The Driveway was clear

So I went out for a ride.

Turned out to be an adventure ride of sorts, mostly on pavement

There were 2 lines to ride in on eitherside of the lane, sand up the middle, as long as you picked your line through the corner before hand it was okay.

No major lean angles for the day and speeds were kept way down but it was great to be out on the bike again.

I set out with no predetermined destination in mind. I found myself going through Bigelow hollow. I tasted a new flavor of pucker, a sharp right hand down hill corner with a 3 foot patch of ice across the lane. I slid a bit but kept it upright .
For the most part the main roads were clear, a few wet spots here and there.
I realized that I was close to the land
of trust funds and bording schools, so I decided to pull in for some $$$$$ lunch.

On my way out I ran into nelson and a friend of his who also took advantage of the warmer temps.

As I was getting suited up a woman walking out with her daughter took time out of her day to tell me that it was people like me who flood the ER on days like this. I thanked her for her concern, ( in my mind I was telling her to fuck off). She then got into her VOLVO wagon and while manuvering it out of her parking spot came inches from me and the bike. I felt like telling her its the soccer mommies in their volvos that flood the er with injured riders.

I left the VBC and ended up at motorsports international to check out some boots. From there I somehow ended up in hardwick. I stopped in for a snack
and grabbed a six pack for later.

I stopped to grab the mail on my way home. this is a view of teh paved section of my road from the mailbox

then the unpaved section

some 180 miles later and it was starting to rain about a mile from home, it has since turned into snow and is coming down pretty steadily now.

I guess I'll go light a fire and have a couple of these while I read the new cycle world that just came in the mail.

The bumpy ride home from the store shook them up pretty well.

Well, I added an acc. plug for my GPS and mounted the Fenda Extenda. Looks great, though I'm not entirely happy with the plug itself. I really should hardwire the GPS.

Now its just pissing rain.

Tomorrow looks good, so I may shoot up to Moto Market.

You forgot the pictures from when you were in the bathroom dumping a fresh load in the bowl where you had lunch. Then had to pull over to pick your ass because you didn't wipe good enough and had an irritating dingleberry,... and i'm still waiting for the picture of the skid mark in your underwear. Not to mention the vomit in the bowl at your house later from throwing up those beer's your gonna drink. Then i'll be happy...but don't mind me i'm just a little jealous that you went for a ride today. Bastard.

The cold snap should set the ice up nicely for next weekend. that pond near me should be good.

Hey anyone can ride any time, its a matter of wether or not you are willing to get your bike covered in salt an dsand, not to mention you helmet and riding gear.

Then there is the fact that you can't ride like you normally would due to the sandy corners and ice in the road.

If it makes you feel worse, The wife and I are riding again tomorrow on the dual sports.
Hope to end the weekend with around 350 miles for the 2 days

Magic Hat Roxy Rollies.

Sean, not sure if you've made it out this way yet, but the stretch of 202 between Belchertown and just past Pelham is REALLY frost heaved, just an FYI, I was out there earlier this week bouncing the fillings out of my teeth.

Nope I headed south hoping for less snow and such but they still have a good amount down there, along with sandy salty roads . pot holes and bumps.
But the V strom takes the bumps a lot smoother than a sportbike so its not that bad of a ride.

Yeah, the 6R is set up a bit on the stiff side. All I can say is thank god for steering dampers. The front end was pretty squirrelly even with it cranked up to where I have it set on the highway. Then again, I wasnt smart enough to slow down either.

Sean, how you liking the Stromboli? How's the power delivery, linear or lumpy? Does it feel strangled if you rev it out? How's the engine braking? Does the bike's handling feel balanced, or raked out with that big chopper front rim? And, does it wheelie?

As for power it seems like a pretty smooth delivery although I didn't do to much hard excelleration as the roads are crap. I have only just under 400 miles since I picked it up in JAN.

Engine breaking is obvious and something I need to learn to control my sprint was a tripple and had some engine breaking but this strom falls flat on its face if you roll off the gas quickly which is a good thing I guess if you learn to use it to your advantage.

As for wheelies I'm sure it has the grunt to pull one off but I'm not the guy to try it. I can do small short ones on my dirt bike but have no desire to do one on my street bike.

I won't have real feed back on the bike till the roads clear up. but so far I love the bike, It has enough power for what I want it for and the riding position is comfortable , with pleanty of room in the cockpit to move around and change positions a bit.

The handling is smooth once again though I haven't gotten much lean angle on it yet. I did notice under hard breaking the rear gets light quickly and locks up easily, Perhaps I need to stiffen the front a bit so it doesn't dive so much.

All this beer talk is making me thirsty

The best beer I ever had was 2 weeks ago when I was in Canada. I have no idea what it was, all I heard was "give me 3 pitchers of red beer" when we ordered.... oh it was yummy and a great beer to drink with a meal
