Can I use your chain breaker for a sec???

Anyone around Boston, MA have a chain breaker I can use for a sec? I'll drive over w/ the chain to break off two links.

I'm usually around the north shore, but am on the south shore every now & then.

I'd get one myself but I gotta spend some time & money on a new petcock, plugs, & hoses to get the damn bike to fire.

this would be very helpful.

just drive by a shop and see if they can do it for you. For the literal few seconds that it takes it better not be out of thier way. With any hopes of holding a good clientel they'll just do it for nothing.

I wouldn't go in expecting a shop to do it for free... Tools are a mechanics living... having said that, though, I doubt it'd be any more than a couple bucks.

I could do it, the breaker's just not with me at the moment (it's sitting in my shop out in the burbs and I'm at work in the city). I could bring it with me tomorrow, though if you still haven't found anyone to help out. I'm on Mass ave and Boylston.

Use a bench grinder (or file, dremel, die grinder, etc.) on the end of the pin and a punch to drive the pin through if you don't have a chain break.
