I'm not gonna lie, some of Hyosung's new bikes look pretty cool. Too bad about the questionable reliability/dealer network.

Now there's a bike with a LOT of miles. I don't think with that many miles, there is a reliability issue. :poke

Never seen a dealer come to think of it....

ummm...

never seen one....

anywhere....

ever.

Great Bay Motorcycle on Rt. 1 in North Hampton NH carries Hyosung besides Ducati and Triumph. I've never bought a motorcycle from them but their service has always been fantastic so I try to give them business whenever I can.

the Hyosung factory supposedly makes the SV engine, hence the twin that they sell.

Hyosung used to make parts for suzuki, but the hyosung 650 (647cc) and suzuki 650 (645cc) are completely different engines even though they look similar

Moms in Foxboro on rt1 has a few Hyosungs. The 250 they had actually looked pretty sweet. For a 250 Id say its one of the better looking and more agressive styled. Pretty much like the honda 600 F4i and 600rr.

You'd think the salesman at MOM's in MA would know that. Last year I was in there, and he was telling me it was "pretty much the same bike as the SV650."

Gotta love people who flat out lie. I work with car dealers, and I remember asking one if the Lincoln Zephyer was based off the ford fusion. She said "no." Wonder why some dealers have a bad reputation?

But yea...that's not a bad looking bike for the $$.

Hyosung makes v-rod ripoffs now?

from what i understand it is desgined after the sv motor...like all of the crf50 clone bikes....the patten laws in other countries are not very strict....so tthey copy these motors but use crap parts so while they are "like" their counter parts they are not nearly as reliable...plus it is harder to get parts because they not the same as the brand name counter parts.

[quote=slaps76;357350] "pretty much the same bike as the SV650."

it's certainly meant to compete with the SV, and of course, the SV is intended to compete with the Monster

while Suzuki did a good job taking market shares from Ducati, I doubt the hyosung will see much of the market unless they subatantially lower their prices or improve the bike

the Hyosung GT is at least 75 lb. heavier than the SV & Monster, brakes are weak, and the usd forks are damper rod forks and even more garbage than SV forks

saying the hyosung Comet GT is the pretty much the same bike at the SV is like saying a R-6 is pretty much the same bike at a GSXR600

Hyosung had done some contract manufacturing for Suzuki and my understanding is Hyosung hired away several key engineers who had worked on the original SV650 motor design, there may even have been some (unsuccessful) lawsuits.

I saw the Hyosung 650 with the bikini fairing on the road on Saturday... really weird looking design.

At first I thought I was looking at a monster, then I get closer I start thinking it's a 999 that had been crashed and had the rider had just thrown out most of the plastic.. finally when I got close I realized what it was. It seems to have little styling cues taken from a bunch of bikes.

Funny thing is doesn't it make about as much HP as a stock big-twin?

Slower then the V-Rod for sure though.

At least someone has had good luck with their service dept. Maybe the only thing they did was fill your tires or something
