Beautiful day

I just got my bike yesterday from the dealer and I got to really ride it today. It was so nice outside I put 200 miles on her. I've tried to keep to the manufacturers breakin, but due to my location, that's just not possible. Who can keep the engine under 4k RPM's? I can see it possible on some of the roads around here, but most I keep the RPM's around 5-6k in sixth gear.

I know alot of guys on here have been riding longer than I, and I was wondering if this will affect my engine in a negative way. I don't believe it will, and I don't plan on really opening her up that much until I'm sure the engine has some good miles on it. It just seems unavoidable unless you drive just small town area's.

It's "What kind of bike?" not "what kind of bike."

I divide my RPM's in half so I can say RPM's Now I run 2000 revolutions per minutes which is your 4000 RPM

Beautiful day

07' Kawasaki ZZR600...I finished my MSF class today and scored highest in class, not a big deal, but we had alot of fun. Just came home to grab a quick bite to eat then back out till my arse is so numb I can't walk or sit. I've got 250 or so miles on it so far just since yesterday ...It'a another gorgeous day, I hope everyone is out riding. If anyone is in the leominster area, I'll be the blue jean jacket wearing rider with the Ebony ZZR (my leather jacket hasn't come in yet, nor do I know when it will).

Safe Riding Everyone,
Chris

Adding an "s" to the end of a unit of measurement is common to distinguish between a singular plural quantity. By your strict interpretation of the acronym, one could not say 1 RPM when refering to a second hand on a clock since the R is already plural. In that case most people would automatically substitute the singular form of Revolutions without even thinking about it. The same thing happens when adding an "s" to the end of an already plural acronym. Most people would never take issue with the "s" and would prefer it because the sentence is less clumsy when spoken.

If you are going to be hard up on a guy for using RPM's which isn't in line with proper word construction and etymology, make sure you use the correct version of "it is." I'm not trying to be a jerk about it either but it annoys me when people get "its" and "it's" mixed up. "Its" is possessive and "it's" is a contraction of it is.

actually when referring to a motor you would never say it went 1 rpm you would say it turned over. it's the fact that rpm means revolutionS per minute and to add the s on the end would make it revolutions per minutes witch would be incorrect.

so thats why i laughed when dan said "I divide my RPM's in half so I can say RPM's Now I run 2000 revolutions per minutes which is your 4000 RPM"

because even though it would be a stupid idea to do so it would be correct

and i wasn't trying to be hard on the guy or a jerk even (although i got the jerk thing down to a science) its just the fact that most people are unaware of the use of the acronym

If it took one minute to turn over once, its average speed would be 1 RPM which is technically incorrect because Revolutions is plural. The point I was trying to make is the English language is flexible and you can bend the rules to improve the readability of sentences.
