Greg funny you put that pic up....I bought a homemade version on the MCM and was going to put it on my '01 R1 when I had it. Def gives the bike a clean look.

Bill,

So what are your plans? You just going to put the pipe on or you going to tune the bike as well?

When I say tune I mean the following:
Disable SET Vale
remap without PCIII, or install a PCIII and dyno tune it.

That is one loud ass exhaust.

Well, i have to either adjust the set valve or adjust the set valve since i'm getting a false FI warning.

Would you mind giving me a hand once i get the pipe on to reset or disable the valve?

I have to wait on the power commander until i get the funds in place.

You mean disable the SET Valve? Yea if you need help I can assist. Seems very simple to do. Only concern is identifying the #30 wire in the SET Valve disable directions. Hopefully the wire harness is labeled good.

Like we've said you don't have to get the PCIII. See how it runs without a remap or PCIII. If it runs good then keep it like that. If it runs sloppy try a ECU remap without a PCIII. If it still runs sloppy with the ECU remap then you'll have to go the PCIII way.

If you want to diasable the SET but leave all the cables and junk in place then this is the easiest way to do it. Set Valve Deactivated on 04 1K - Gixxer.com

as for identifying the #30 wire, here's how:
the ECM has two plugs one black and one grey. You want the black one.
"clip or remove the #30 wire on the black ECM. i found it was easy to unplug both the black and grey ECM's and get at the wire. the pins on the ECM are 1-17 for 1 row, 18-34 for the other." The wire you want is black with a brown stripe and is near the orange wire with purple stripe. It will be on the bottom row if the plug is still connected to the ECU.

I've never done it but from all my wanderings on gixxer.com I think I have a good idea of how it's done. Let me know when you want to do it. We can all meet up.

I met her out in Vegas last summer. Unfortunately she isn't that kind of friend. We talk on a weekly basis and she keeps me up to date with what's hot out there. Cool chick.
