Question

Exhaust Decision

Ok, I know i will get some constructive feedback here. I was checking out exhausts yesterday and heard the Leo Vince yesterday and was blown away by it's note and look. I am deciding between the L/V and the Two Brothers.

Which would any of you choose and why. I am indifferent right now but am really leaning towards the L/V

Here are the pics

Based on looks alone, if I had your bike, the Taylormade is where I'd be looking first and foremost. Also, as goofy as it may look by itself, once the Micron is mounted I think it looks amazing. And from owning a Micron pipe on one of my previous bikes, they sound great. But of the two you posted, I've always been partial to leoVince, simply due to the fact that not many people have em... looks good too

I was at Great Boston Motorsports yesterday and heard the L/V and it was phenomenal. I was VERY impressed. I think i'm gonna go with that.

I always liked the LeoVince. I found a set of bolt-ons for the TL that I was considering getting, but I don't exactly have the $600 just lying around at the moment.

Thank you.

I like the Taylormade as well but i don't know enough people that have had any experience with them.

I think i'm gonna go for the LeoVince

I've got about 6400 on it. I do agree that it sounds more throaty now but i wouldn't mind a little bit louder with some performance gains.

God damn, you had to play the devils advocate.

Bill,

Keep in mind if you want the gixxer to run SMOOTH, you're going to have to remap the ECU directly, or install a PCIII and dyno tune it with a custom map if you want to upgrade the exhaust system.

I'm not too sure on this but you might also want to disable the SET valve for added performance with the slip on. It's not necessary since the SET valve mounts inside the header.

As far as looks go, I think that two bro's is the ugliest looking pipe out on the market for our bike. I've heard two bros in person for our bike and it's annoyingly loud. Just my opinion. I'm leaving mine stock because I hate all of the exhausts on the market for the K6's except for Taylormade, but I dont feel like $625.00 for just a slip. On and on top of that there's the cost for a PCIII and the tuning of it which will come close to $1000 once it's all said and done. If I'm going to spend a grand I'd rather spend it on some nice Ohlins suspension products.

I talked to TJ at Greter Boston and asked him the same question about needing a power commander and he said that it isn't necessary with a slip-on. Is he way off by saying that? I was always under the impression that a full system setup would require a full re-mapping and commander

You don't NEED a power commander.... you won't do damage to the bike the way you potentially could with a full system without mapping, but like he said the bike will run smoother with a power commander.

mmm, high mount.

The PC isn't necessary. The bike will run fine, but the PC will allow you smooth out the power a little bit and improve throttle response. I have a slip-on, a gutted-cat, and a PC3R on my 12r and it's much smoother and makes a bit more power than the stock pipe/map configuration.

Correct, you don't NEED a Power Commander. Suzuki ECU's can be remapped directly, but if you want the bike to run smoothly a power commander is the way to go. Also keep in mind your stock headers are titanium (99% sure) so switching to an aftermarket header probably won't cut down on weight.

whats the difference? its not like your putting on a tuned header. its a slip on. a muffler is a muffler. they claim 6-7 hp increase my race bike sounds awesome with it. just do it! be different.

better yet... call them. when i called i talked directly to Dale. he can tell you if it will work. i cant see why it wouldnt

+1 for Leo Vince...I have the SBK's and LOVE them!!
Mine are quiet at idle and low RPM's, but will bark a heck of a note in the upper RPM's, and when you let off the throttle in high rpm's and let the rev's come down on the twin

I don't have a gixxer, but I have the 2 bros pipe on my yzf600r, and it sounds great. A little bit of growl at idle, throaty through the midrange, and screams nicely up high. Under engine braking, it sounds great with a little bit of popping through 9k down to 4k

Before the 2 bros pipe, my bike sounded like a sewing machine with the stock pipe.

+1 the 2bros on my R1 sounds badass...but I've heard it for other bikes, and was not all that impressed. Personally the taylormade exhaust is pimp...by far the cleaniest looking one I've seen
