Need help with deciding on which trailer...

So far i've narrowed it down to 2 trailers.

1) Carry-On brand 5x8 (instock at local Capworld) = $700

OR

2) Haul-Master brand 4x8 (from Harbor Freight) = $269+shipping+wood?

Yes i know there's a decent difference in price, and small difference in size. And I know harbor freight has one 5x8, but that one is $600 and by the time i get the wood for the deck and shipping costs i mind as well go for the Carry-On instead.

the pro's/con's of each that i can think of at the moment.

Carry-On;
Pro's: Big enough for 2 bikes (i think?) if ever needed, already has floor, and I can pick it up locally.

Con's: BIG enough where having a spot to park/store it may be an issue. Price is at my limit with my current budget.

Haul-Master;
Pro's: Enough for 1 street bike (possibly 2 dirtbikes?). Folds up for easy storage, and cheap enough where I pay for it w/out stressing much.

Con's: Too small to fit 2 full sized streetbikes (if i ever need to). Needs a trip to Home Depot for floor, need to invest in ramp.

I know there's a decent difference in price but the Carry-On does fit my budget (though extremely close to going over). And although i'd like to be able to trailer 2 bikes, its not a huge issue for me.

I know nothing about either brands' quality. And not sure what else i need to look for as far as functions/options. So if anyone can guide me in the right direction or/and make a suggestion i would appreciate it.

Need help with deciding on which trailer...

When I bought my trailer I looked at it beyond just hauling a bike around.

I ended up with a 6.5' x 12' landscaping trailer very similar to the carry on one... in fact I was looking at a carry on 6x12.

One of the biggest deciding factors for me was the wheel size. Hauling a decent load at faster than posted speed limits on a highway for long periods of time will tear up wheel bearings on the HF trailer.

BTW... 2 bikes on the 5x8 will fit, but it's not a spacious as you're probably thinking it is.

if you end up going the cheap route & get the Harbor Freight, it's a good little rig.... a whole bunch of us on here have it including myself. I've had it for about a year & have had no problems w/ it so far.

If it came down to either the Harbor Freight & Carry On, I'd spend the extra money on the Carry On. In fact, I recently did just that. I sold my Harbor Freight trailer and bought a Carry On. I got the 6 x 12 though, it has the ramp on the side too...

The Harbor Freight's great bang-for-the-buck. If you assemble it solidly (instead of folding) and correctly and build the wood body right (don't buy their cheesy-ass wood body kit!), it'll last you a helluva long time...

The Carry On however, is worth the extra money. I wish I had gone that way the first time around. To me, it's just that much better...

Oh, the difference between the two size-wise isn't gonna be a whole helluva lot...

Wylee,

I'd get that and get rid of the plywood surround.
Its not doing a whole lot other than cause a massive
amount of wind drag. Your not carrying wood I take it.
