New Kawi - Gonna be a love it or hate it thing...

Just noticed this on Kawi's web site.

http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/Detail.aspx?id=246

Seems like a fun, practical ride but looks... um... unique.

Actually love the idea, I used to own a Vstrom and wished it had 17"s at both ends when ever I was on pavement.

One of these just appeared the other day where I park for work

Looks like the same bike with a fairing... Still not sure how I feel about it.

Same motor and some shared chasis parts but the Ninja650 has been around for a few years now. The versys has been out in Europe but is new for 2008 in the states.

Richw - I can't believe we agree on something.

Is it me or the handlebars look much higher than other Kawi's 600??? Are we thinking a more upright seating position? That would be awsome. The only reason why I didn't even flirt with the idea of a 600 is that I find the lean forward seating position to be very uncomfortable to me, the only model so far that I would consider (and actually would LOVE to own) is the FZ6.

The bars appear to be well above the tank on the Versys, vs about tank level on the Ninja650, which is way higher than the clip-ons on any of the other Ninja600's.

Seat is a bit high at 33 inches, at least for those of us with 28 inch inseams.

Before I clicked the link, I new it was the Versys based on the "...gonna love it or hate it..."

I think I'd rather have the Ninja650, although I do like the look of a naked sporty bike... I don't like the headlight/front end look.

Seems like a comfortable all-arounder. I think it looks cool too. If I was in the market for a new bike, I would definiately consider the Versys (ah..maybe the name is the only drawback I see so far).

Versys is in CW this month. Nice except for that cleft-lip of a headlight cowl that manufacturers think we actually like. WTF is up with that anyway? f-ugly, if you aks me (don't aks me that question! - sorry, old reference). I do like the rest of the bike, though. Between that and a new Beemer 800, some cool streetable engines around. Me, I'm holding out for an Aprilia SXV or RXV...
