Got my RC51 Sport Touring edition set up

Got the bike as ready as she gets. Tomorrow I come home from work, pack and go to NH for an early am departure to Nova Scotia on Saturday. I am so ready for this. I am glad my back flare up last week healed up enough to let me ride. Its gonna be fun!!!. Will these bags be okay touching the CF exhaust? I dont think they get too hot?

Bruce

Thats the Same GPS I have! Nice!

I dont know about the bags resting over the pipes.. They still get very hot... Could be bad news. Pack a lot lighter and only use the tail and tank bag, meybe even a backpack if you have to..

Have a great trip.. Going with anyone? Or alone?

Cool, you got a Zumo too. Zumoforums.com if you havent been there yet. There will be 9 of us going. DucDave is heading this up. I will play it by year on the bags. I will see how they are in NH and I can always leave them there.

Nice... I'm liking the Baxley Chock.

The CF still gets pretty hot... Did you try putting your back seat on and seeing if that raises the saddle bags any?

Lookin' good Bruce! That Zumo looks huge in that picture! I guess I haven't ever seen one in person. We'll check your bags when you get to my house tonight. I think they'll be OK but I would keep deoderant and anything else that might melt in the tail bag.

For those who are curious, point to http://www.batmanmoto.com/Docs/2007%...0Itinerary.doc for our itinerary this year! And Rides and Trip Reports has trip reports from a couple previous CSTs! (Canadian Sport Tours!)

I have a 1 inch foam pad I zip tied under it. I have another piece here at work. Maybe I will bring it home and put another under to raise it a bit.

I had those bags for my SV650, or something very similar. Do they have the rubber coating on the bottom?

I never had any trouble with heat but the bottom of the bags wore very fast from rubbing against the exhaust when cornering... the "heat shields" were worn through after only that 1 week trip.

Stoinkythepig has my bags now.. he might be able to chime in on how they held up after that.

Have fun... good luck with the back, but then the roads aren't *that* bad up there.

Do you mean the foam on the inside of the bag, inner side, or the plastic on the bottom?

The plastic on the bottom... if it's not contacting it there on yours maybe it's OK.

On the SV the bottom of the bag rubbed against the bag, not the side.

It didn't matter anyway.. it was only cosmetic.

Who makes that set of tail bags, they look great on your bike! Also how do you like your Garmin, been looking into setting up something very similar.

Good luck and Ride Safe,

Oh man, wish I would have seen this post sooner. There's a heat shield on the bottom of the bags but the sides are neoprene and will melt. Melted neoprene will be mess to clean off those pipes.

The tail and saddles are Cortech Sport bags. I'm not sure who's tank bag he's sportin'.

Oxx,
If you want to do a fit check some time I could mount up my bags (see avataor pic) and bring them to a bike night. We can swap'm over to your SV and see how they sit.
