bought her last sunday and picked her up before work 2 days ago...

i think i ruined the weather for the whole week ... the day i picked her up was fine, i racked up 74mi, but it's been raining ever since, and my frame sliders haven't arrived yet, so rain-riding on unbroken-in tires on my first brand new bike = no-no

haha, yeah, it's a worthy stable-mate (the 911 bwaahaaha).

father finally decided to have his real mid-life crisis... he got a brand new, black mazda miata in 2000 (which we both absolutely loved, and its memories still tug on my heartstrings a little, but that's a story for another day), completely out of the blue, and then i guess his finances finally allowed him to step up. he was thinking "i really want a boxster, but if i do that, i might as well get a boxster S... although if i get a boxster S, a base 911 is only slightly more, soooooooooo..." lol, and there we have it. it's a truly beautiful car, he got it in Atlas Grey (basically charcoal with the slightest tinge of blue in direct sunglight). i'm happy to post a few pics of that if anyone/everyone wants...

and yeah, nick, we'll have to go for a spin . i'll be working from 11:30 to 8pm, so it'll have to be a later-ish night cruise if it's tomorrow... i guess the weekend is supposed to be nice, though. it was looking grim earlier in the week and i was about to cry -- but the weather patterns must've warranted an update, so if not tomorrow than definitely this weekend. i'm hoping Mark will swing by this thread, so we'll have to get him in on the action. there might be a couple other people who'd be interested (my brother on his 600RR) and a buddy or two who might be around, so maybe we can get a local wolf-pack going

edit:
more of my father's car

and one of the most beautiful cars ever

sorry some of them are fucking ginormous... they're from a father's day photoshoot i did for him last year, so they're full-res

Mark, Honey Dew is doable.. You can see/hear the new goodies, if i'm allowed to stop by with all the REAL Harley's.. If you want to go out prior to that let me know

i think it takes me about 10min to be at honeydews... i could be there in less if i took the highway, but i can only do a shade over 55mph (max break-in rpm in 6th), and i don't wanna get rear-ended by any of the nutcases out there, so i'm staying off the highways for the time being...

seriously, who has the link to the web site that proves the ride hard, and factory suggestions?

the main thing is to constantly vary rpm and load so the rings get properly seated

i had a brand new (left over) 620 monster that i followed the brake in to a T

at 6166 miles one of the pistons exploded

btw ill let you ride my bike if i can drive your car

i'm keeping it under 5k for the first 75mi or so, then 5500 up to the first service which is scheduled for the 30th...

after that i'm gonna slowly work my way up to redline... 7500 soft redline for a hundred miles or so, then 8500, then 9500...

i've been varying the revs and not riding like a granny, but i've only probably given it like 30% or so throttle... keep in mind it has 74mi on it

Yeeaahhh Aaron! We are getting a pack together and riding real soon. Rain rain go away, come back on a motorcycless day.

I have never owned any new engines, so I have never broken one in. I think breaking it in hard is the way to go, because that's more fun

I broke my brandy-new DRZ400SM in at a Tony's Track Day. Honclfbr and I took turns pounding the ever-loving snot out of it all day long. It liked it, and runs fine now (and doesn't burn a drop of oil) at 2,000 miles, many of which are track miles.
