Funny Conversation I Had Today...

At work, I have some 'before & after' crash pix of my old RF900R on the wall in the customer service area. This guys walks in and sees the pix and immediately starts to tell me that "...that poor sap was on his front brakes...", then goes on to tell me that you just can't use the front brakes on these modern day 'missiles' that the 'Land of the Rising Sun' keeps shipping us. "...those Japs think we're all as light as they are over there...". So I decide to humor the guy with some pleasan conversation about bikes in general...

I went on to explain to him that it was wunna my old bikes on the wall. His first question was if those were pix of what happened to it after it got stolen. Ummmm, no. He was shocked to learn that it was me on the bike, and that I walked away from it (I found out weeks after the accident that I had 3 fractured ribs and a broken collarbone, which explained why my back & neck were hurting so damn much). When I told him about the gear that I wear, he went on to tell me how much he doesn't agree with wearing gear like that. Big surprise, huh?

To make a long story short, he also went on to explain to me that he once had a "...Ninja GSXR 900, or 1000, or 1100..." complete with "...powder coated headers and straight pipes...". He also went on to tell me how incredibly fast and loud it was and that he raced it "...at Laconia...".

Loudon?
No, Laconia...

Where in Laconia?
At the race track...

At NHIS?
No, at Bryer Motorsports...

Yeah, that's what it used to be called...
No. Bryer's has been there for years...

Yeah, until it got bought and thoroughly upgraded...
Noooo....

And it went on and on and on. It's still cracking me up!

Funny Conversation I Had Today...

Speaking of people like that, Last night I stopped at a local tavern to get myself a Guinness when I spotted a R6 parked outside the door. I started up a conversation with the guy in the bar, He was easy to pick out, He was the one with the helmet on the bar with his torn up jeans, work boots, and denim jacket. He was telling me that most of the guys he rides with are "posers" and are afraid to "push" thier bikes hard around the city and he ends up" out riding"them everytime they ride. Another guy tried to get into the conversation but rider boy would be center of attention here, He went on to tell this guy that he and his buddies "put these little pad things on their knees with metal in them so they can make sparks when they drag them around the corners". "I can do most of the corners at 125mph plus, no problem". You gotta love these guys, They make life a little more interesting. I used to go to high school with a guy who would tell the biggest bullshit stories you ever heard and it just made me laugh, I guess he was good entertainment.

Hey did I ever tell you about when I won the Isle of Mann TT?LOL

Yea we had a tough time installing the 500cc GP motor to the Honda trail 70 but it all worked out. The smaller bike can out handle anything out there because of the smaller tires!! Hell, we were drunk most of time while racing on the island!!

Ya know Taylor, whenever you make a smartass comment like that to me I just look at the picture of YOU wearing a hat with a picture of ME on it, and it makes me feel so much better.
