Carnage Photos - Big, Big, Long, Long Ride

Huge thanks to bmrider (Brad) for hauling all the way up to east BF Maine with me to pick up the Sprint. He didn't know me from Adam and went totally above and beyond the call.

A few pics of the sprint damage, and one bio pic of the staples in my hip.

Best,

John

Well John...looks about the way I remember it. (The bike, not your ass!) Nice call out to bmrider...big time!

How was Bob in Maine! Seemed like a nice guy!

Any sign of your credentials!?

Good to see you out and about....
...nasty scar you're gonna end up with. Fortunatley will be seen only by those who have to go out of their way to see it!

Thanks for posting up...let us know what the insurance company says!

All in all, the bike damage wasn't too bad...

We were able to get it started and drove it up into my truck pretty easily.

Glad I was able to help out.

Bob in Maine was cool, helped us get the bike tied down and then alerted us to the impending Rapture.

I got my credentials along with a nice note from the Oxford County Deputy than came to the scene. Just got an accident report in the mail today. They have me skidding down the road before going into the woods. For the record, it didn't go down that way.

Peace,

JB

I think they told the cops 3 or 4 times you didnt skid on the road.. but there were some marks in the road where it appeared you went off so they decided you were skiding and wouldnt listen to bergs. it looked to me like you may have actually been close to coming ba ck on to the pavement before totally losing it.

LOL - Aside from knowing I didn't skid, the only other part I remember is "totally losing it."

Damn, somebody almost always ends up eating it on this ride. Last year it was Dylan (on the yellow monster 900).

WTF?

Those deaf mutherfuckers!
:

Hey to all the coppers out there, here's another example of why it's sooooooooooo very difficult to not to completely hate you guys as a group.
I explained my first-hand account of what happened to TWO officers and yet there's the report filed with a Triumph skidding down the road!

Of course those two assholes saw the acciddent too so they didn't need my statement in the first place right?

I know for a fact it didn't happen that way. I can repost my account of the accident for all that missed it...

Did that note cost you anything? I fucking hope not!

I'll give a sworn statement if you ever need it.

Really disappointed in Leo right now...

Bergs,

I knew that'd get you riled up No worries, I didn't get cited and I don't think it will mean anything to the insurance company.

The extent of the report is this line:
"V1 was traveling north on North Road, lost control on leftt hand curve and laid bike down which skidded into ditch impacting ditch and trees and shrubs."

Included is an inaccurate diagram of where the bike and I landed in relation to one another.

When I called the Sheriff's Office looking for my ID last week, the accident report had yet to be filed and the deputy was taking scheduled "days off"

Well....what the hell do you expect. We moved the bike, doncha know!

Actually, I wouldn't let any of that occupy a single braincell. Really, your bike did skid...and flip and roll...and he didnt say it skidded on the road. They were pretty cool in my opinion.

Well, that makes strike two for that Barney-Rubble-"how-can-we-investigate-a-crash-if-the-bike-has-been-moved-oh-and-I've-done-this-before"-bullshittin' asstard.

Dave, you already know my issues with those guys because the small one got all "Napoleon" on me because what I had to tell him didn't fit his preconceived notion of what happend....

And I don't carer if my spelling sucks right now...I'm ventiung!!!!!

I know I heard you say that too them, but I figured they would say he skidded off the road. Only because they kept saying "here are his skid marks"

The other thing is they will assume speed was involved as it had a plastic body, there fore it had to be a sport type bike. Especially when thats about 97% of what was in our group. They dont know that he probably wasnt going that fast, and speed probably wasnt afactor. he could only be going as fast as I was and seeing as how Terry braked hard, I braked harder, and im sure the dude on the sv behind me braked hard too, johnny bob must have slowed down before the turn.

any of this make sense?

Yeah, in retrospect they seemed to be cool. I didn't get cited, the guy didn't lecture me. He just sniffed my breath for alcohol, which I would've expected.

I called the sheriff's office the lady on the phone was really nice, and the deputy sent me a nice note with my ID and registration.

That surely wouldn't have been the case anywhere near a big town or a city.

It was probably a reasonably Mayberry experience and I certainly have no hard feelings about the LEO experience on the scene or the flawed account of the accident.

Big picture, it won't really matter once my bike is back together and my hip will allow the riding of said bike soon please.

Spoke to insurance folks today, i don't think they'll be too much of a problem either.

So many things about this crash went right, that I can't even begin to worry about the few things that didn't. Seriously.

I'll go off in the corner and weep tears of joy now.

Sorry Dave, Bob didn't give a specific date of the Rapture, but he said it could be soon. I indicated that I'd like to ride my bike some more first, then Brad and I got the hell outta there.

Did you grind parts in the road? Or were there just old tire marks that they incorrectly assumed were yours?

No ground parts, just old tire marks. If I'd been laid over enough to do either, I probably would've made the corner.

so yea.. my Triumph TT 600 is up at the shop getting worked on and i saw a beat up blue Sprint covered in dirt and it got me thinking.. I know that bike lol. I asked if that bike had gone down in a group ride.. the service girl said no, actually the rider was going down the road and hit a stump.. I laughed to myself, thinking.. well yea technically that did happen She then said, yup its definitely totaled!

Rest up so you can get back on a bike!

LOL - Yeah, they really gotta stop growing them stumps in the middle of the road. Were you talking to Shelly? or the female tech, (Nicole I think)? Both of them are pretty cool.
