Nicky Hayden Loudon quote

Nicky shows some respect for Loudon in an interview on SuperBikePlanet.com

Q Are you super-familiar with the racetracks that you race on now, after five years?

A Honestly, I think, in the past, I think people made a bigger deal about learning the tracks. Now, the tracks over there - the actual layouts are not hard to learn. It's just a different type of track. But I'd say the tracks, it's not so where there's so much elevation, blind, it's not like you're going to Loudon or something like that, where it does really take a long time. I can't use that as an excuse. I know the tracks plenty good by now.

A few top racers have said in the past that it's the toughest track they ever had to learn.

Regarding Loudon... The only other tracks I've ridden are VIR North & VIR South... the first time riding both of those tracks I kept thinking to myself "Soooo, what's the trick to learning the line? What the hell am I missing?" because for the most part, picking up the line was so easy compared to NHMS.

Trickiest part for me on either VIR course was the aproach to Oak Tree Turn on VIR South. Aside from that I was able to pick up the racing lines farily quickly compared to how long it took me to learn Loudon. Of course that didn't stop me from butchering the line on more than one occasion But at least I knew pretty much where it was

Yea I saw that quote today and thought it was pretty badass. Again backs up the old tale of Loudon being a locals track!

Pete you are right. Every track I've ridden outside of Loudon it's taken about 1.5 sessions to get myself 90-95% dialed on the raceline. Should be riding Laguna soon.... for some reason I don't think that's going to be a easy one to learn!

BAH! I bet you've got thousands of laps around Laguna under your belt... even if they HAVE been on an Xbox 360 or somethin
You'll take to that place like a fish to water as long as you like jumping off of cliffs on a 400lb hunk of metal
