do they all offer similar protection, just more bells & whistles on the RX-7 corsair?

QUANTUM 2

the profile is for people with narrower shaped heads, the corsair has more of a round shape.

keep that in mind

Your pictures are Low End to High end.

The RX7 is a "relaxed" Round shape and has a smaller outside shell from what I have read. I was just looking at these last night. I had a Quantum and I think I am gonna move up to the RX-& just gotta double check the size.

Protection is the same for a proper fitted helmet. Get sized and fitted not priced. This is the very LAST place to skimp. If you're going to race and you can't afford to protect your head then you don't have the money to race.

yea that's why i'm asking. i'm planning on gettins sized, I'm just not sure if, protection-wise, there is a significant difference between models if the cheapest one ends up fitting the best....

If you're fit right in any Arai you will be protected the best. Make sure you go see Paul at motomarket.

actually the rx-7 has a different shell construction than the other arai models. it has a layer of what they call structural net composite (essentially a fiberglass type layer) embedded in the layers that make it stronger as well as lighter.

that being said, if it's not the right fit it's not going to do it's job.

yea, I just didnt like the designs enough on the Quantum-2. I was debting between the black Stellar or Hacking. But for $400 (on eBay), I'd rather get something I liked better. So I got this Shoei RF1000 tonight on eBay.

another thing that turned me off from the Arai, where the complaints i heard about switching sheilds. Right now with my HJC, I just mirrored or smoke shield in the daylight, and clear shield at night time. I plan on doing that with my Shoei, and I heard it's a pain in the ass to switch Arai sheilds. But I do like their eyebrow vents on their sheilds.

i have the rx7. the eyebrow vents are cool and those black plastic things are "switches" to open and close the intake and exhaust vents on top of the helmet.

the rx7 is very comfortable for me, i have a big round head.

the visors are easy take off once you get used to it. The first time i tried to take it off, i was being too gentle and it took me a while.

Quantum 2

I picked up my second Arai last December. Great helmets. got this bad boy. I think I paid 470ish and got hooked up with a second set of thicker cheekpads . My other lid had the K.Roberts Eagle design, but it was an astro series I think. The down side to it was, NO Removable lining/cheekpads. No good. As you all know, after a while, a helmet gets broken in to the point of no longer fitting snug to ur head, Hence replacing the cheek pad inserts. Can someone shed some light here? Does the profile have the snap in liners. I would think at this point, all the models have the snap ins.
