Buell racing the new bike?

Shawn Higbee is a Buell test rider as well as a racer sponsored by Hal's HD & Buell. The 1125R is just a new platform and will not steal any of the XB platform's thunder. The 1125R will be more competitive in heavier weight classes, while the XB12R will still compete in Thunder bike and lightweight classes.

I rode the 1125R at Pocono's east course. I have to say this bike was the easiest thing that I have ever just hopped on and rode fast. I think that it's going to be some exciting times for Buell in the near future. Buell also just posted it's 2008 contingency support plan. They keep stepping it up every year.

The race parts are currently in developement. They will likely be out before Daytona. American Sportbike, an aftermarket Buell parts supplyer, has their bike and are working on some stuff.

Looks good cept I think the frame needs to be black, it would look especially nasty all blacked out. I thought it was hideous the first time I saw it, but the more I see it I dont mind. I do need to see it head on in person to make a final decision though

HWSB, Supertwins, the unlimited classes. SST in Moto ST if they reduce the power a tad.

Odd.. I had the exact same opinion. I rode one at Streets of Willow and had to work very hard to make it go fast. It changed direction quickly and that's about the nicest thing I thought about the bike.

Power was less than the 999 I was riding all day and it wasn't nearly as easy / fun to ride fast around Streets as the Superduke I also rode.

Nicest Buell built to date, but going to get worked on the track still IMO.

Buell racing the new bike?

You know, I really want to like this bike but I can't. It's so far off the mark in the styling department. I don't know what the hell they were thinking at Buell. We've waited for a liquid cooled Buell for so long and this is what they come out with? I'm disappointed. As far as racing it? in what class will it stand a chance? supertwins? yeah right!!HWSS ha! It's classic Buell. Build a bike that will appeal to the smallest number of riders out there.

I wish them luck but if i were looking at twin this wouldn't be my choice.

I think this bike will be running very strongly against the competition in all classes. The funny thing about that is, this wasn't even designed to be a race bike, unlike the competition.

The styling may not be for everyone, but I and a lot of other people like them. BMW's aren't for everyone either. I recommend checking one out in person, then taking one out for a test ride. You will start liking it a whole lot more.

Eboos, try and look at the buell as if you weren't a salesman for them. They touted the bike as the 1125r superbike.

Now take that 1125r and park it next to a 1098 or an Aprillia mille and tell me which ones are superbikes? Or campare it to a GXSRZXCBRRR1 and how do you think it will fare?

It's has no class- what i mean is it does not fit in any superbike class. Those bikes will destroy that thing.

It seems more like a Ducati ST to me.

Yea that's what I was kind of trying to say. The motor didn't have as much punch as a 999, which gets eaten alive by the 1098!

I got off the thing and compared notes with Brian Catterson (Editor of Motorcyclist) and my first comments were 'Nice streetbike, not so nice racebike'. I'm sure someone will race it and 'go pretty fast' (hell Nate Kern rips the BMW!) but it's not quite ready for Superbike primetime.

Hey it's a nice little streetbike and a step in the right direction for Buell. *applause*. Anything that gets people off mass-produced UJM's is cool with me.

Tuesday I'll be riding at Laguna on a 848, the 1125R's will be there as well. Now that will be a interesting comparison....

Superbike has become a generic term. It doesn't mean anything. If it did, why would there be 5 different superbike weight classes in CCS? The weight class revisions in WSBK and AMA would allow this bike to compete where in the hands of a well funded team with a good rider would be just as competitive as they would be with another bike. Budget will destroy this bike in competition, not the worthiness of the platform.

I became a Buell salesman long after I fell in love with my bike and the brand. If you think that I don't appreciate other makes and models, you have me figured out all wrong. I was considering buying something else until Buell unvailed this bike.
