I agree...when I was shopping for my first bike, I picked the 250 just because I thought the 500 looked freaggin ugly. Now I have a 500, black, and it's the ONLY color that makes the 500 look fine. That new 250 is just awsome, but I wouldn't go back to the weaker power.

The only way to make a 500 look pretty is throw some race fairings on it and run it in PTwins.

i've yet to see one in person. are they in dealerships yet? i should swing by north reading motorsports and check it out if they've got one...

i'll probably try and buy a used 2nd gen in a year or two as a learner track dog

I am too lazy to look it up but with the New technology, and Fuel injection, how much "Weaker" would that 250 be than your 500 with 20 year old engine technology?

carbed and puts out pretty much the same power as the old 250's... I saw the dyno charts somewhere... I'll find it and post it up.

Point is, with people trying to grab the 'new 250's, you can a used one for reeeeeally cheap now.

Well I don't know about the "new" 250, but I can only speak about the 2003 I bought brand new a few years ago. My 500 has much more guts than the 250 I had. I don't know much about the new model tho, the engine etc. has it changed? I wouldn't understand unless someone bother to explain me...

I met a girl tonight that didn't know if her bike was a 250 or a 500 (long story bt it made sense... It is her bosses bike which she has had for the last year and hasn't paid a dime)

Any easy way to tell the difference? She says there are no decals and the vin/reg doesn't say.

Anyone got an idea?

Do you mean it's a Kawasaki, or she just doens't know the make of the bike at all? If she knows that it is a Kawi, it's pretty easy, look at pictures online? The 250 or the 500 haven't changed in YEARS...

Weird... 250's are physically smaller, no?

Although, I think the Hyosungs 250's have the same frame/body as their 650's... I think...

What kind of bike is it? As V said, if it's a Kawi, should be easy to tell.

250 is definitly smaller than the 500. The front fairing of the 250 is a small narrow square shape, as the 500 has a wider rounded shape front fairing. The 250 is overall much narrower than the 500, it is really a tiny little bike...lol
