Removing Decals from BodyworkIs there a way to do this easily and cleanly? Any product that can be used and is safe on paint? The decals in question are not clearcoated over. |

Re: Removing Decals from Bodyworkheat, a heat gun if you have one if not use a hairdryer, use GooGone or WD40 wd40 and a paper towel afterwards to get rid of any left over glue. |

Re: Removing Decals from BodyworkI have used it on all the warning stickers on the bike and it worked like a charm. After you use the heat gun to loosen and heat up the glue and peel them off use the GooGone after on the residue. good luck |

Re: Removing Decals from BodyworkAs stated earlier, first use a hair dryer...but don't hold it RIGHT up against the decal...stay back an inch or so...and heat it up. Then, peel it off carefully keeping the hair dryer on the decal as you do. Finally, use GoobeGone and a soft rag. Then polish as usual. |

Re: Removing Decals from BodyworkAn old credit card works well to scrape the decals off after you've hit them with a bit of heat. |

Re: Removing Decals from BodyworkHeat is def your friend when doing this. I used a little brake/carb cleaner once i got all the original decals off when i did my R6 below. You just have to make sure that you dont use a rag thats at all abrasive. |

Re: Removing Decals from BodyworkMy bro had good results on an older [8 yr old Yammie] using rubbing alcohol and a clean rag in conjunction with heat. The black paint was fine |

Re: Removing Decals from BodyworkWD40 the heck out of it, and wipe it dry. DONE. Googone's good, but takes a bit of effort. Use the WD40 and be done with it. |

Re: Removing Decals from Bodyworkthe paint will bubble extremely easily with the hairdrier so you have to be very patient and don't get it too hot. use windex and a papertowel to wipe off the glue; windex works awesome. all stuff you probably have right at home. i reconditioned cars for 3 years & that's all we'd do & it worked perfectly. We'd also use a plastic razor to work the decal off as we would heat it up. any plastic flat edge should do fine, but again if you use that you have to be very careful not to scuff the paint up. oh yea- clean the area first so you don't rub in any dirt and scuff the paint. a coat of wax is nice afterwards if you want to keep the paint looking pretty. Re: Removing Decals from Bodyworkthis fits the typical stereotype of forums. the whole "just do waht he said" type thing keeps going on haha. I got a good laugh reading back on it and seeing everyone repeat the guy before him pretty much. |

Re: Removing Decals from BodyworkManny, I have tried a lot of ways, go get a real heat gun (mine is from Sears) Heat em, peel em, no problem. 3M makes and excellent adhesive remover for getting the gunk off once you peel, it's called 3M adhesive remover (it may be mineral spirits). Those two will save you hours. |

Re: Removing Decals from BodyworkIf you have any residue left over from the stickers (thick or thin), use microfiber soaked in WD or goo gone to get it off. Works like a charm, and it's easier (and less harmful) than digging in with a credit card. |
