What did you do for lunch today?

Well we finally had a day that got into the mid 40's. I was working at a different office than my usual one so there was no boss around and i took advantage. I didn't have MY bike with me to ride, but happened to have my helmet, jacket, and winter gloves in my car, so i did the next best thing. Found a dealer close by that allowed test rides!!!

Test Rode one of those Hyosung cruiser things (first time ever on a cruiser) and i was actually fairly impressed, it had good power, decent turning and it was comfortable. Maybe if i have some spare cake in the future i will pick one up as a commuter.

Looks kinda Vrod-ish. I'd be weary of these Chinese knockoff bikes, everything's all fine and good until your front wheel poofs into dust and the fork snaps off because someone forgot to weld it. What dealer allows test rides?

Re: What did you do for lunch today?

If you really do consider a cruiser take a look at the HD sportsters. Lots of used ones available, they are cheap, and (contrary to popular opinion) reliable. I use my sportster to get to work most of the year and I love it. I've even had it on NESR group rides (not recommended btw).

Also, I don't feel the need to go 2x the speed limit/it helps me avoid tickets (one of the best features about the bike).

Re: What did you do for lunch today?

Having never been on a NESR ride, you said you don't recommend your Harley because it doesn't allow you to ride at 2x the speed limit. I'm not a crazy/stunt riding looney, should I be concerned?

Thanks,
Josh

I think I know what dealer you're talking about reiobard, is the place called Red Streak Motors? I dropped by there (interestingly enough my dentist is on the same road) and checked out the inventory, mostly Chinese knock offs and such, though I did see a nice Ducati

Re: What did you do for lunch today?

ah, wrong impression. .. but sometimes we carry speed through twisty sections.

The sportster doesn't handle well going fast around bumpy corners (crappy suspension).

I'm not saying I/we do 2x the speed limit...just I don't FEEL a strong desire to do so on the sportster.

...it is a great stunt bike though. If that is the impression you got.

Pro Tip: It's Korean, not Chinese

i'm assuming it was the 650 and not the 250?

the new hyosung GT650R is pretty damned good looking... shame is weighs like 450lbs and is carbed (i know that's not a sticking point for all, but i had a bad experience with my first bike, a beat to shit katana, so i'm tainted 4 lyyffffff!!!!)

The one time I rode with you while you had your Sportster, I was extremely impressed that you were never really more than 30 seconds behind the main group. You were seriously grinding your hard parts!

Or was that a devious plan to discourage a new bike?

thanks, not hard to do, those hard parts aren't far off the ground.

I guess my point was that the sportster is not a sport bike - even through it has the word "sport" in the name (that is just fancy marketing). But, if you like cruising around sometimes it is a great bike.

Re: What did you do for lunch today?

MOMS in Manchester does indeed carry 'em. More importantly, (and probably old news to you tools), MOMS is now a YAMAHA Dealer. Went by yesterday and all the signage is out.

I am thrilled...not that I have a yen for a Yamaha...but I really enjoy going to MOMS and am glad they are successful.

On another note, my favorite guy from MOMS, Pete, is now at Seacoast!!!

AWESOME

Re: What did you do for lunch today?

I sat on an inverted 5 gallon bucket, and ate. I started things off with some yogurt, a banana, some cheddar goldfish, a bottle of water, and a turkey and cheese sandwich. I ate the sandwich last, and held onto it with the zip lock bag my wife put it in, as my hands were covered in mouse shit from reaching around in 60 year old insulation. After lunch I flipped the bucket over and took a dump in it. I drew a skull and cross bones on the bucket and threw it in the dumpster. I'm working in Maynard tomorrow if anyone wants to do lunch.

I don't need to discourage. We have no money. That speaks for itself. Besides, we need racebikes before we need cruisers.
