That roads looks unsafe, its shit. How can you take that many corners, wouldn't you end up going in the same direction at the end.

Re: Fun Road?

I'd be all over that road...looks like a whole lotta fun to me - the curves even have a nice pitch to them! Then again, if that's all there is to it...there'd be lots of turn arounds.

I wouldn't zip through that many times in a row. It looks heavily policed.

Looks like a blast...as long as you can stop thinking about the 5 really great opportunities to have an up close and personel meeting with the guardrails!!!

Second the question...where is it? Italy???

Re: Fun Road?

This is the north slope of the Passo della Stelvio. We went there for my honeymoon. My wife (riding on the back of the bike) was less than impressed as we weaved our way up through the 47 hairpin 180 degree turns, passing campers and sometimes cars on the straight stretches. At the top you can have lunch with skiers who are enjoying the nearby glacier. Highly recommended (along with a lot of the other roads over there).

Thought it might be Stelvio, wasn't sure. Greg here on NESR has ridden that road.

Re: Fun Road?

The most scary parts about the roads over there isn't sharing them with other motorist, bicyclists, or police. It's the poorly placed cow pies. Some of the mountain passes lead through the farmers "pastures". Besides petroleum products I can't imagine anything more slippery than a big ole sloppy meadow muffin.

Reminds me of the road that went up to the hotel I stayed at in northern Italy (Soprabolzano).

There are so many amazing roads in that country...

scary, but hilarious

otherwise that road doesn't look like TOO much fun...it just looks like the route 2 hairpin 5 times which is too sharp to be enjoyable

And their whole attitude about driving cars, riding motorcycles and scooters, and how they all live together is freeking great. Rational, sane, fast and safe. Lane discipline...no cell phones or coffee...and attention to the task at hand and respect for all others...

I'd take the cow pucks any day over Rhode Island's Beirut-like roads. Probably like riding through Amish country in PA...and they can't even curse at ya!!
