How much do leather suits break-in?

I just picked up one of the cheap chicane suits from new enough and I was just curious as to how much suits usually break-in or stretch. I know not all suits are the same but those of you with leather suits, what have you found to be the case i.e. a lot? A little? None?

I think someone posted that the suits from new enough were not quite the right length. The length seems to be all right but maybe that's why the legs, crotch, and thighs are tight? The rest of the suit feels fine. Chest shoulders and arms all feel okay even with a back protecter under it.

It took me the better part of a year to fully break in my 1 pc Kobe Misano.

I had an issue with the knee areas being very uncomfortable for the first few times I used it, but that has since gone away.

IMO, there will be a significant difference once it starts to break in and form to your shape.

Snug is what you want at first....that eventually transpires into comfort

I took a nap in mine. Seriously, I was so tired from getting them on the first time, I laid down and it was like 90 degrees and I got all warm and cozy and fell asleep. I woke up sweating my proverbial balls off. But they fit a lot better after that.

haha she said balls

my suit is so tight that i have been wearing it around the house and spraying/ sponging down the inside "nap" of the leather with water and wearing it to dry - this is the best way to speed up the break in. don't soak em, but get them damp and make sure you wear them completely to dry otherwise you're doing the reverse... best way to break em in is a season of riding in them though... good luck

oh and if you have man camel toe, they are too tight to break in, send em back

Yeah! I hear that!

I found mine loosened up after a couple crashes....but, they were fairly comfortable to begin with. My guess is you should wear 'em around as much as you can. Then the first time you wear them on the track you'll completely forget about any 'fit' issues!

It took me about 2 months to break in my Vanson 2-piece. I would wear them around the house when I didn't have anything better to do. A few 90+ degree rides didn't hurt either. It was extremely tight and difficult to get in to but now it fits perfectly.

Okay this is good to hear. I originally got a 42 which was extremely tight. I have since retuerned it for a 44 which is still tight but it sounds like it will break in some. I'll just wear it a bunch around the house and see how it goes.

you sure can save money buying stuff on line but a suit is something I want to try on first. I think Seacoast Sport Cycle still has some decent leathers that are last years models for a decent discount.

Re: How much do leather suits break-in?

I'd say that if they are dangerous to wear while riding
the first ride... Like you can't control the bike right
then send them back. Slight discomfort and seriously
restricting movement is the difference that you need to be careful about.
Better loose than sorry! Besides you will buy yourself some weight gain
slack if you get em bigger.

Also remember if you going to a Tony's Day you will need to fit an extra back protector in there. So allow for that.
