i think it all depends on how far you go - but i think the word cheap is the one word that never is used during race prep (in my experience) haha

Re: Kawasaki 636

is it a better deal than this one? 2006 Kawasaki 636 - 13x Forums
I was looking into it but decided that it may still be a little out of my price range.

Re: Kawasaki 636

just curious why you guys race the 636 (or want to race it) and not the
6RR...especially since Kawasaki built the 636 more for the street and added some special touches to the RR specifically for the track/race enthusiast.

???
check this out if you are interested in a track/race bike

+1 being cheap and racing is not really an option. Sure, you can go without a steering damper at first (....for example) but chances are at some point it'll save you from a crash that could cost you WAY more. Think of race parts as cheap insurance. I'd say to set up a bike for novice racing duty (not trackdays) be ready to spend $1200+ or so, depending on what you find for deals.

I learned this lesson the hard way.

Loaded question - As soon as you start any kind of racing you'll hear a huge vacuum noise. Thats the sound of your wallet and checking account being drained. As the saying goes - How do you make a small fortune in racing?

Start with a big one...

hahaha probably the best explanation i've ever heard.

some will argue that you can race cheap(er) in other classes. If you want to race without breaking the bank dont race in the middle weight 600 class. its definitely the most expensive and competitive class at the track.

that said....thats what I love about it (minus the expensive part)

Re: Kawasaki 636

It's a push. The rr and the 636 are roughly equal in track perfomance.
