I hate hearing about motocycle accidents, especially when they're not our fault and it's one of our NESARIAN brothers/sisters. For all the shitgiving and assholeness I exude on these boards I'm sincere when I say "Heal up quick and thank god it wasn't worse bro"

He's home, bike's a total. Unfortunately it sounds like he's going to have to take a year off from riding, but thats better then a lifetime.

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very lucky

Good to hear you're alright bro, real sorry to hear about the crash. One of my good buddies just went down last week hard into a guardrail, was lucky enough to limp away from it though.

Does anyone know if alcohol was involved w/ the van driver? It sounds like it wouldn't be far fetched if he/she was boozing to have come that far over the double yellow.

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very lucky

I can't imagine a head on. I will never forget the 1-2 seeing the car pull out in front of me and seeing my front wheel hit between her rear tire and mud flap.

Wish the best of luck recovering.

Too much has already happened. This is not right. Please turn up the awareness level....It would be nice to get all ass holes off the road. Unfortunately that is not going to happen any time soon.

jeff just called me back and hes back at home resting up...i guess his knee is pretty bad, but other than that hes feeling ok great news!!...hes in pretty high spirits considering and hes definitely happy that things weren't worse. i guess the guy who hit him is not admitting fault...so we'll see how that turns out.

i told him i'd come visit tomorrow and i'm leaving amherst now for the night...if anybody would like to tag along, let me know

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very lucky

lol, i'm not sure how much riding he's gonna be doing this season -- from what i've heard, it seems like his knee is probably gonna keep him out of action for a while .

that's gonna be enough for anyone to get spooked, though -- i certainly wouldn't give it a second thought if i heard he's considering hanging up biking for a while. i know if i were in his position i'd be thinking long and hard about what i want to do...

truly sucks, though.

and buddha, i'll ask his grandma if she'd call the cops on me if i brought him a 6-pack when i head over tomorrow, lol

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very lucky

Not to get off track here, but after the winter lay up of not riding, as it gets closer to riding season, I always get these weird thoughts going thru my head about shit like this that can happen in an instant to me.
It kinda fukks with my mind because the confidence and assurity level is low from not riding. I start to second guess my riding skills and awareness of what I have learned over the years and I get a bit nervous as my first day back out approaches.
There isn't a year that this doesn't happen to me. But it doesn't take long out on the road to start feeling better about it and things always seem to back to normal.
I am just so glad that you survived this unfortunate incident.

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very lucky

Hey everyone, first and foremost I want to thank you all for your well wishes. You guys and gals have been the best support group I could have ever imagined. I am in so much pain right now, so I’m not going to say much that steph or aaron hasn’t already covered. My left patella (knee cap) is fr actured pretty bad, but those at Bet Israel Medical Center put it back together and sewed it up pretty good. I got out yesterday, yet, the pain all over my body is starting to show itself. Everything from hands, to feet, to face is hard to move. Things could be a lot worse – I’m lucky to be typing to you folks.

Police reports, insurance claims and all else will fall into place soon. He has already filed a police report – I must also. Apparently, he claims that I was on his side (no shit right?) of the road (River ST in Middleton). My grandmother and mother took a ride back to the scene to find plastics all around (and all the way up a hill, maybe 25 yards away!) and also that there was NO yellow line (faded) where the driver was coming around the turn. I have no clue but I’m just thankful that I’m alive. I’m happy that some of you offered support, but you really don’t need to. If you want to, I suppose here’s my information:
Jeffrey Botto
75 Lake Street
Peabody, MA
01960

(978) 535-0499 (home)

I’ll try and post back when I can, but everything is chaotic right now. If any significant updates are to come, aaron (spicy) or steph (lady flin’ low) will be sure to post up. Thanks everyone.
