Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very luckyJust shy of two months since my accident, I am just two days away from my second post-op appointment at Beth-Israel. There are two options from which the outcome of the appointment could lead to:
All of the Steri-Strips have fallen off, and the battle scar seems to be healing pretty well, though it still sends chills up my spine when I look at it. My leg is still in a locked leg immobilizer for the time being. If my patella is healing correctly, It should be unlocked to a certain amount of degrees worth of movement so I can begin PT. Here is a picture for your amusement: ![]() After the appointment Tuesday I will be sure to post an update. It looks as though my next bike (Daytona 675) may come sooner than I expected ![]() |

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very luckyWell, I did have it sliced open, all the way to the Patella. Hell, the force was so great it fractured into four plus pieces! Last edited by bottoj : 05-18-08 at 08:20 PM. |

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very luckyNorthshore, Peabody specifically. I am thinking of calling up Sports Medicine North (right behind NS Mall, they have a PT program called Physiotherapy Associates). I just want a good place local to me. |

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very luckyAs an update for all of you: I went into BI yesterday, and the outcome could have been better, yet it could have been a lot worse. The x-rays were surprisingly good; the doctors said that my patella has almost fully healed, thus they set my ROM at about 45 degrees. I can bend it until the brace stops me, but it is very tight (my knee of course!). One major concern that my team of two doctors had was that my quadriceps were basically non-existent. They said that they have never seen that level of atrophy, even after two months of immobilization. They said it could be to nerve damage, or that I cannot activate the muscle anymore. Either way, I can't lift my leg up in a leg raise or move it forward while standing. I can swing my hips, thus moving my left leg forward, but I cannot move the muscle itself. Hopefully with PT, the muscle will awaken, and if that does not do it, I am beginning an electrical stimulation program this week. I will keep you guys posted. |

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very luckyman, that sucks dude. Did you talk to the people at Physiotherapy Associates yet? Like I said, I had a very good experience there, but again, it's the only time I've ever had Physical Therapy so I don't have anything to compare it to. I do know that I'd go back if I ever had to, they were all very nice & treated me well. They even covered a bill for over 1000 dollars ![]() (They accidentally let me run over my allotted number of visits allowed by insurance... they called me up before one of my appointments & told me I'd be paying out of pocket from that point on if I wanted to continue going, but they'd cover the visits I had already gone to that insurance wasn't gonna pay for.) |

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very luckyI am doing better than I could have ever expected.
Long story short, I am healing up, and taking my time doing it. The more I hear about motorcycle accidents lately, the more my mind tries to tell me not to get back on in a few years. Let's just say that I am still undecided ![]() The following is for entertainment purposes only: On a side-note, if any of you knows a way to get me out of a jam (er, maybe a ticket or two, wrongfully accused), feel free to contact me. |

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very luckyI said it was for entertainment purposes only, but suppose I got ticked because the arriving police officer never spoke to me at the scene and listened to the other driver involved, who would obviously say that I hit him. |
