fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very lucky

Sorry about the title -- it's late and I really have no idea what else to call it.

I just got off the phone with Jeff (fellow NESR member cras4u), who's apparently been in an motorcycle accident. He's just woken up from surgery/anaesthetic/whatever -- I guess he had been riding on River St. in Peabody/Danvers by Richardson's when he rounded a bend and found an oncoming van in his lane.

He seemed relatively in good shape, at least in decent spirits (though that might've just been the painkillers) -- said he hit the van pretty much head-on, and got spun off the bike. His knee was fractured and he dislocated his shoulder. He said his bike didn't look too bad, but his gear was pretty knackered (jacket was ok, helmet = totally fucked), but whatever, that stuff is considerably more replaceable than he is. He's a good kid with lots of enthusiasm.

At any rate, I thought I'd post and just ask that people keep him in your thoughts (or if you're religious, do whatever you do) and remind everyone to be super, extra careful. He's incredibly lucky, so he might've used up all the luck for NESR members -- you don't get too many close calls or situations like this (about as ideal a serious crash as can be had).

I'll try and post more info when I hear it, I'm hoping to go visit him at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston over the weekend sometime -- I'm sure anyone else is welcome to tag along, just PM me if you need to.

Alright, well, time to go back to bed. Take care, all.

This kid's having some bad luck. Last season he took a curve too quick and ended up in the woods (uninjured and un damaged), and now someone not paying attention hits him while he's out enjoying one of the first nice days of the season.

Glad to see the helmet did it's job! In a crash a lid is a one time use but if it does it's job it was very well worth it. So sorry to hear about the crash...glad he is still here with us..

Yeah what he said...post up an address or something, I'd like to send a card too...

Hey Aaron, did that happen in Middleton by Richardsons? there was a pretty bad crash they were talking about over the radios (next FD over from me) didn't get details though.. and yes... if hes alright, next step is a GREAT lawsuit... heres to a speedy recovery.... Just saw Mikes other post... dangerous road... i love riding it but way too many sharp blind corners... met more than one dumptruck/moving truck 18 wheeler style down there

Unfortunately it's going to be a he said she said type of deal, so the chances of getting anything out of a lawsuit may be slim. However, there may not be to much harm in trying.

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very lucky

yeah nick, it was on river road -- goes from rte 62 to 114 and puts you out at that stoplight probably 200yds down the street from richardsons. good road, but dangerous.

dunno when it happened, but i'd be willing to bet that yeah, that's the accident that was going over the radios...

Re: fellow NESR rider cras4u injured in moto accident - he's alright/very lucky

actually, prob. not that hard to figure out fault.... police just need to see where vehicles end up... match to tire marks b/c somebody panicked and locked 'em up... just natural inclination... voila... if the van was on the wrong side of the road... guilty as charged

As far as lawsuit, the most you'll get is what his policy is worth and nothing more. My mother lost her life to a $25,000.00 policy. She was worth a fuck of a lot more than that.....

I was supposed to help him with some wiring on his bike this weekend, shit man.

I'm glad he's ok, give him my best, and tell him I'm still more than happy to help him work on the bike (if it's still intact).

Edit: I just sent him a text message. I hope he got it!
