my new Desmosedici...

OK, it's a 1/6 scale model courtesy of ebay for $40. Everyone has seen the little 1/18 and 1/12 motorcycles you can get, but this thing is 13" long and much nicer to look at from across the room.

There's not much of a selection in 1/6 scale, and New Ray is the only mfr I know of. Mostly Harley's, old Indians, Gold Wings, etc., but they do make a Triumph Bonneville, BMW K1200RS and the Ducati 998, 999, and Desmosedici.

Wouldn't mind one, and almost had a Monster before I decided on the SV. But realistically it would be awhile (like after I'm retired and the kids' college is paid for). A LONG while.

I hate to say it, but WalMart is the best place to get the smaller (1/18 scale ) ones, usually just $2-3 a piece.

Minichamps makes the most detailed 1/12 (6") models, but they're $70-$100.

NewRay does have a good selection of cheap 1/12 race bikes, but not sure of an online source besides ebay.

I think it might be bigger than your YSR.

Fit and finish are great for the price, although the paint is just semi-gloss (maybe that's the right finish?).

Yo...the description says 'Diecast' which, to me at lease, implies that it is metal? Its not, is it? I assume its plastic. Sure looks good in the pics...

Yo...metal frame and other bits, the balance is mostly plastic, still great model for the price.

People say "diecast" these days when all they mean is a ready-built, mass-produced model, that has some diecast metal parts.

nice. I wish I had the time to build motorcycle models myself, seems like I barely have time to ride lately. The 1/6 scale Duc is already calling out to me for extra detailing, like maybe adding every nut, bolt, and wire that's on the real one....
