Re: Bikes on Newbury St.

i went by tuesday night and it was pretty cool. it's more of a social thing to meet riders in the area. there are some cool people there, some clowns, some egoes, but it was still fun. pitt and mongoose i think you know the dude with the tricked out carbon fiber kawi 636. he was there but I forget his name. we actually grew up in the same town lol. I ended up riding with a bunch of people over to dominos by MGH for free pizza around 11 or so. again, a good mix of people. some experienced riders, and some brand new. I met a few people that I would definitely ride with any day.

I'm still not completely satisfied that I got everything I needed to off my chest in regards to posing, I'm glad this thread was bumped.

Re: Bikes on Newbury St.

seems to me like two different things are being discussed...on the one hand, theres the guys who go and pose trying to pick up chicks, and the other theres the guys who just want to hang out with their rider friends and stare at chicks. i guess you could try and combine the two and just be angry in general, cause the groups tend to blur a little bit, or you could go die in a car fire.

i kid i kid. dont be a hero.

So! I was bored last night & the Wife was at PPAC.

I wanted to see if there was indeed a bunch of "Posers" on Newbury Street. I have not been in Boston at night for around 10 years & wanted to see how bad it has become. Newbury Street really sucks to ride on, too many manhole covers that are sunken into the macadam.

Yes indeed! I found the Posers, around 20-25 bikes all lined up with their rear tires touching the curb. They looked so cool standing around, a couple of them actually were sitting on their bikes with their Bitch on the back.

There wasn't enough room at the curb for me to pull in, so I found a empty spot about 50 feet away from them & had a smoke.

When I was done with the smoke, I looped around the block so I could pull up parallel to where they were parked.

So, I asked one guy that was sitting on his bike with Bitch on said seat also. "Is this a good place to hang out?" He says "Yup it is fantastic"

I then asked him "Do you guys ride your bikes in the twisties?" He said "Yeah sure, we are just waiting for another guy (yeah Sure!) we go to Blue Hills & then we ride on the highway"

I told him that Blue Hills sucks because of all of the cops & that they should head out to the Boonies for a good ride like in Dover. Let the cops out there deal with them when they can't make a corner.

I don't think he appreciated what I was telling him, & I was surprised I didn't catch any crap from them.

I left after that. They didn't seem very receptive of my conversation with them. There was a lot of "bated breath" around at that time of night.

Kurt, are you trying to kiss Daytrader's ass?

Re: Bikes on Newbury St.

I think its hysterical first everyone makes fun of people for NOT riding and "posing", then they say they're going out riding, and then are made fun of for WHERE they're riding. So if you guys could give me a trail map of where I'm allowed to ride to be considered a real rider, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks guys!

Taking the time to ride down there (with posting in mind I'm sure) and then posting a page long story...weak...your biggest problem was riding the blue hills? You think folks in Boston are going to ride to Dover on a weeknight?

If the story was funny,okay...but I think you are trying a litte too hard.

Daytrader is good at stirring the pot, but come on. I don't think daytrader gives a fuck about Newberry, he just likes to cause controversy.

If you came down and had a coffee and cig with us you might have enjoyed yourself.

you have to poney up the cash for a ducati. simple as that

seriously though, newbury has its moments. it's best after you've been riding for a few hours and just want to go somethere, sit your tired ass down, and shot the shit with a few buddies for a few minutes. but there is defintely a posing crew there who do it full time. no biggie. some really good riders there. some total clowns as well, but whatever. the babes just come with the territory.

i took a swing through on the way home today. rode for hours into NH and up to VT, had lunch with the family, then thought i'd swing by. sore as hell, didn't see any bikes, so went home.
