Introducing my "new" $125 motorcycle...Trolling Craigslist can pay off. Saw a 1978 CB 125S pop up yesterday in Huntington, VT. No photos. Previous owner claimed that it would start and idle but not run well in higher gears. Drove out after work and gladly handed over the money. It's not perfect but might make a great little cafe racer (for less than it costs to gas up my car a couple of times). Documented fuel economy on this beast is 90-100 mpg. Pics are before any cleaning, etc. I got her home tonight and did the obvious... Drained the old gas, cleaned the air filter (mouse nest, no surprise there), changed the oil, threaded in a new plug... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And she turned over on the 4th or 5th kick! Just got back from a drive down the dirt road across from my house.... ![]() ![]() Last edited by catamount : 05-01-08 at 08:10 PM. |

Pristine? Not quite... it's been wired to work without a key, headlight/brake light doesn't work, right turn signal doesn't work. Needs a little help. |

Re: Introducing my "new" $125 motorcycle...nice find. i sold one of these a few years ago for 5 times the price you paid. even then the buyers were lined up. it went to a nice home on block island. ebay had a huge stock of parts; side covers and even a hop up kit, 150cc conversion. the engine was used in alot of models so finding parts was relatively easy! mileage was around 70 per gallon. the 75 model was a 6 volt system. top speed was 62 with a 190lbs rider; not to bad. bike was fun to toot 'round on. enjoy. very unusual disk brake, cable pull, no fluid needed. |

Re: Introducing my "new" $125 motorcycle...wooow...I am so jealous! I started out on a 1972 Honda XL-250, and it pooped and farted around my backyard for 3 years before I sold it for more than what I paid, but that older generation of honda motorcycles will always have a place in my heart... |
