Re: opinion poll - so my bike was moved by random umass employees w/o my authI think that you handled that situation exceptionally well. I would have been up in arms about someone messing with my bike. Also, if you hear nothing back by midway through tomorrow, go to whatever office you need to with photos of the bike, where it was originally, where it got moved to (were they moved into illegal parking? i musta missed that part), and any scratches or damage that may have occurred (if any). Check the front tire for evidence of dragging, and request a new tire for their ignorance. Stay calm and polite, and let them know you are disappointed that motorcycles are treated with less respect than other vehicles on campus, toss out the word discrimination, and ask them why they couldn't have the BBQ set up in a different area. Schools hate being accused of discrimination. Also, FWIW, solutions that Iwould like to see: - better notification process, including signs posted at least three days in advance. it's a college campus. not everyone takes their cars every day, let alone their motorcycles. - more notification attempts, such as email 24 hours in advance, or phone calls 1-2 hours in advance. - alternatives if vehicles are not moved. it's a BBQ, did it have to be RIGHT there? could they have set up next to the motorcycles, say 50 feet away? if the bikes were fine there, then the BBQ would have been undisturbed as well. |

Re: opinion poll - so my bike was moved by random umass employees w/o my authI take drinking very seriously myself and it is my constitutional right to do so. By the way, a college campus is no place for a shiny motorcycle. ![]() |

Re: opinion poll - so my bike was moved by random umass employees w/o my auth+1!!! WTF. Someone touches my shit they better damn well ask for permission first. Sounds like someone got a few guys and lifted it...and then put it down like 50' away. If I were to ever see such a sight, my bike or someone elses, I'd see total fucking red. That's some foam-at-the-mouth shit right there. |

While I agree it would suck to have my bike moved without my permission, you can't assume they just did it some half ass way without any signs of proof. You can raise a stink all you want, but I highly doubt you have any course of legal action on their property. Once again I'll just say you should be happy the bike wasn't damaged or towed. |

Re: opinion poll - so my bike was moved by random umass employees w/o my auth[ ] Very satisfied [ ] Mostly satisfied [ ] Somewhat unsatisfied [ ] Very unsatisfied [ XXXXXXX] Stabby (stab stab stab stab stab stab) Analogies... Ok for a stranger to swing a leg over my motorcycle? NO! ...why?.... read below and think. Ok for a stranger to hop into my convertible w/ the top down? NO! 1) Is it OK to Roll a motorcycle to a different parking spot? NO! ...why?.... read below and think. 2) Is it OK to hop inside an un-locked parked car (manual transmission) and roll it to a different spot? NO! I am a college student, and i'm heated over YOUR situation! I'd be pissed if someone moved my bike! At my college (Daniel Webster), If we don't move our vehicles, we get a fine to our student account. THe security and parking people look up our parking permits, and if we don't comply by a timely manor, then we are fined. (ussually from 5-25$ depending on issue). My college is also really good at contacting prior to, and taping off areas. Even so far as a few hours before, to look up the people's cars, and go to their rooms, and leave a message with a roommate. If i were you, and you felt it was worth while, i'd deffinately look for scratch marks on your tires, and if you are not replied to, it's deffinately worth talking to a lawyer with, and also with the other motorcyclists that had their rides moved. A class-action suit! haha. |

This simply requires an explanation and changes to how things are approached for similar situations in the future. Aaron, you're sure the dealer scratched the bike and not this move, right? Then the school would hafta ![]() |
