Re: Glad I wasnt in front of this guy

Agreed....but reading the article, and the on and on nature of the incident, makes it sound less like a crash and more like he either passed out at the wheel of had a massive brake failure.

Then again, he might have just been going way to fast...

Re: Glad I wasnt in front of this guy

My gf watched this happen on her commute to work yesterday morning. She said it looked pretty gruesome when she went by it as there were flames everywhere. She was on a t car that stopped right behind the wreck.

There are some pretty dumb people out there.

Re: Glad I wasnt in front of this guy

Yeah, why is it that they do not state WHY it happend? Nothing about the driver of that truck besides the fact he ahd past suspended licenses. Did he pass out? Brakes didn't work? Purely an imbecile beihnd the wheel? Strange that they don't say anything about that...

Re: Glad I wasnt in front of this guy

But it doesn't look like he even let off the throttle !
I mean if you pass out or fall asleep your leg will usually
go off the gas. It looks like there was no let up on acceleration
even after the first impact.
Trucks have cruise control? I doubt it.

Re: Glad I wasnt in front of this guy

The problem is with (1) The Company Why did they hire a driver with a suspended DL? (2) The State The Driver should have his CDL revoked with that many traffic citations. If he didn't have a CDL, shame on the state for allowing a driver to legally drive a 24' box truck without a commercial drivers lic. (3) CDL Driver Medical Testing I only have to pass an EASY physical every 2 years for my CDL, but for my pilot's medical requirement, I must pass a stringent physical including EKG Stress Tests EVERY 6 months. Maybe CDL drivers should have to pass the same medical testing. Maybe companies shouldn't hire drivers with blemishes on their CDL. All IMHO......

Well, all of the above is obvious....

What isn't so obvious is what really happened. So, from a universal perspective I agree...but from the perspective of THIS incident, I am not in possesion of all the facts...

The question is, how did this guy get a job at a delivery company in the first place?

Re: Glad I wasnt in front of this guy

The weird thing for me is that I should have been right there at 7:17 on my way to work. Woke up late though and just got stuck in the traffic where they blocked off Comm. Positive reinforcement for drinking too much the night before and hitting the snooze button one too many times.

I've never driven a commercial truck that small, but all the trucks I drove when I was delivering groceries did have cruise control.

I think it's more like Burnout Revenge. There are sections of the game where you get points for ramming cars. The more cars you ram consecutively, the more points you get:
