I just rode a Ducati for the first time it was a 748. I almost shack my pants!
I was shocked on how much torque it has. I went 0-OH SHIT! real fast.
Just wanted to share my experience with you all.
It was sweet!

Edit: The 748 has a V&H exhaust and was loud as all hell.

That is true, but the 749/999 are turd when you compare them to the 848/1098.
It's plenty fast for me and it turns more heads than newer Jap bikes

Oh don't get me wrong, I LOVE the 748's and it's the bike that got me into Ducati's.

Again, for comparison, if that's how you felt about riding a 10 year old 'slow' 748, just try and imagine the pavement curling pull of the 848 / 1098 / 1098R.

Shoot, I rode a 848 the other day for about a hour in the twisties, loving it. Hopped off and switched with my buddies on his 1098 and promptly shit myself (again). That thing is MEAN!

and the 1098R makes the 1098 feel neutered....

So weird. You really have to hop from bike to bike immediately to notice, but wow.

I just bought a 92 Suzuki Bandit 400 in line 4 liquid cooled in excellent condition for $500.. The bike rocks!! you can throw it around like a bicycle and it redlines at 15K... Its funner than my R1.. Now if I could only find a Duc for $500..
