i guess this is kinda what i'm getting at. if you still end up getting a new pair of gloves every few seasons, why get the really expensive ones? i find my motoGP nitrous gloves very comftorable. i compare them to my joe rocket gloves and the rockets feel like crap. my hands are the last thing grabbing my attention when riding. crashed in them and they've held together fine. it's not like i buried my hand into the pavement when i went down at the track, but why the hell would anyone do that anyways? one glove did get scuffed up pretty badly, but not a single stitching has come apart and they're still my everyday gloves.

i can see how the $10 gear for $10 body part thing applies to something like a helmet, but it's not like the cheaper gloves I've got now are crap. they're actually very well put together and comftorable. this is the first time i've looked at money and gear this way because i'm just not getting it w/ the gloves. the price difference between something like held phantoms and motoGP nitrous is almost $200. just not seeing much of a difference other than price and a few bells & whistles that aren't gonna keep my wrist from snapping...

Helds, in general, will remain usable through more crashes than cheaper gloves. Why get new gloves until you NEED new ones?

My A* had seams coming apart after two months of normal use with no crashes.

I've heard of folks using their phantoms through half a dozen crashes and/or several seasons...

Re: held gloves

My friend's A*s GPs blew a seam on his first lowside, he had the gloves for a couple weeks at this point. No obvious scuff marks, but one finger was VERY exposed during the crash from that seam letting go. He also popped a seam on his knee in his A*s suit... not getting the best vibe from that brand based on his results.

As far a Joe Rockets, the first gen Speedmasters (3 years ago) are excellent gloves. Mine have been through hell and back and are still kicking. The newer versions just don't seem to be on the same level so I'm shopping for an alternate brand to replace them. Does Held offer a glove with restrained pinky?
