At a red light minding my own business when...

Man, so I had my first bike to car contact!

Just sitting at a red light about to cross a cross st.
when the car behind me (that was also stopped) wacks me!
with no warning...

The light had a left turn first green, and I was waiting to go straight.
There was a left turn lane for cars to go left if they needed to.
I was in the straight only lane, minding my own business...
man was I pissed... fucking cursing this guy out...
turns out he's a priest or pastor, ha ha ha...
anyway hes got his front bumper stuck between my rear tire and my sub frame...with my license plate folded up and back...
Luckily I didnt go flying. We exchange info and he takes a photo of my
bike... looks ok... cut my leg a little from my bike hitting me, hopefully no whiplash...
possible damage but you know it is when things like this happen the
bike just doesn't feel right. Not sure what I should do... maybe did damage to my pipe... not sure...
what happens next after police report and telling my insurance?
dont think an adjuster is going to see much.

anyway its been a bad luck week... I got beaned in the head with a baseball at my sons game... then got seriously head butted by my 2 yr daughter while trying to put her to bed... so if bad things happen in threes I'm all done for now !!

is it possible to get the bike checked at a place like GMD to see if the swing arm and bike are still properly aligned? id assume that sometimes the eye cant see what their equipment can.

Yep this sounds like a free trip to Pete's shop for sure.

That's a really scary type of accident because it's not something you can really prevent, fortunately he didn't have too much room to gain speed.

Sounds like a tough week, hope your head gets back to normal. You have a nice helmet you just need to wear it more often around your kids...

glad you're ok... 2 years ago I was sitting at a red light in Lowell behind a girl in a Ford Explorer. A bus was trying to take a left and had to cut the corner, so she threw it in reverse... funny thing, bikes don't have an [R] gear, hmmmmm... start honking my horn yelling and shouting, the guy in the truck behind me is leaning out his window doing the same... she has her music blasting, doesn't hear jack sh*t. VRROOOOOMM BOP! into me... dumb bitch.

I can just hear it now at the next Tony's Track Day.... "Hey guys, what gets hit in the head at a little league game... head butted by a 2 year old girl... and rear ended by a Priest? .... Give up?.... AKIRA!"

Glad you weren't hurt, bro. Good luck getting everything taken care of.

My thoughts: Your insurance agent will come and look at the bike in person and give you an estimate. While he's there, explain to him your extensive knowledge of motorcycles and the need for a chassis check and alignment. He'll probably work it into the estimate, for which you can get them to cut you a check for the estimate amount and you then later have to prove you got the work done, or you can take it to the shop of your choice and have the insurance company pay them directly for the work.

In the former manner, you can end up with some pocket cash or goodies, although that is illegal and unethical...

I asked the guy for his phone then he got all suspicious.
I just told him hey if we can settle outside insurance its
better for all especially him. He didnt get it.
I said you know frame damage maybe more then he thinks.

Well guess he's thinking that God has got it. Well last I knew
he doesn't offer auto insurance in Mass!

Heh, glad you ok Akira! Definately take your bike to GMD to check alignment. In wintertime it cost me 135 bucks if I'm not mistaken. Now the rates might be higher. Check with Pete. But priests' insurance should cover that. Just do what ^^^Christopher said. And on top of that you might come out with some extra cash if you play it right

I can think of much worse outcomes of being rear-ended by a priest.

Get it checked by GMD, only way to know for sure.

Re: At a red light minding my own business when...

Well one thing has become obvious...
My rear shock is fucked... its got a blown seal and is leaking
fluid, might also have a slow leak in the rear tire!
At first thought this is good as I may get some new goodies
But man, I want MY RIDE BACK in time for Tony's Track Days in June.
Especially after paying my dues with the rainy days in April!

PK tells me its like a ten day wait for a new shock
Then with all the insurance red tape it may not be the case that
I get my bike back real soon.

Actually what sucks the most is the wife and baby are away for
10 days and for 9 of them I will be without my bike!

Man I have been day dreaming for weeks now about skipping some work,
putting on some major mileage and doing some bike work (install rearsets, new HH front pads and fluid) all without any guilt or nagging!

For those of you without a wife and kids, you dont know how much
this really hurts !

For a stock honda shock? You can probably grab one on ebay for 50 bucks. Or he could use the insurance money to grab you an elka/penske/etc...

You should jump on board with the other boy’s families suing the Catholic Church. Damn those pedophile priests and their hitting boys from behind!

Seriously....Glad you're O.K....That could have really sucked!

Yeah ya dont wanna get hit from behind by a priest!

Last I heard there is a Penske that's close in price to the
OEM Showa.

I'll look at EBay if only to get me going at the track days!
