Best price on Garmin Zumo 550

Who's got the best price on the garmin zumo 550?

funny enough, the cheapest I have found is $550.

*Edit* I lied. That was the zumo 450 not the 550.

Amazon had the best price when I bought mine. Looks like it's about $639.00

I just found a place claiming to sell the 550 for $400. The website seems wicked sketch though. It looks like I'll go with Amazon.

If you are willing to risk non-waterproof for a DRASTICALLY cheaper unit, the Nuvi 200 sells for $154 from newegg.com and you can get some very well made motorcycle mounts for it off of ebay. My father did that for his east coast trip (FL to CT and back again) and was very happy with the results. Batteries for that unit last about 5 hours before needing a charge. But I'm sure you can wire up something if you need longer.

Re: Best price on Garmin Zumo 550

My only concern with the other models of GPSs are they are not purpose built for motorcycle vibrations. I can deal without it being waterproof but Kurt is perfect proof of vibrations causing problems. Plus my bike can get pretty buzzy with vibrations. I had an mp3 player mounted for a bit but I had to remove it because the vibrations were causeing it to freeze and make the music skip.

I emailed that sketchy place where I found the Zumo for $400. Check out what they had to say. It's got scam writtem all over it.

I agree with you completely. That website is just waiting for a sucker to come along. I'll look into the RAM mount.

Well I look at it this way, I can buy 4 Nuvi 200s for the price of a Zumo 550. So unless those things are dying like once every 6 months, I'd be willing to put up with eventual vibration death and just replace the unit (perhaps with something better) when it happens.

I think I need to go to a store and play with each one in person. Maybe I'll bring my motorcycle gloves so I can see how it would be to enter info with them on.

Re: Best price on Garmin Zumo 550

Just pulled the trigger and bought it off of Amazon for $664. Doesn't look like I'll get it for much cheaper and at this point I don't really care. I've been wanting this for a while and I'm tried of waiting. I got free 1-day FedEx shipping but with the holiday looks like I'll get it tues or wed. Thanks all for the help.

Re: Best price on Garmin Zumo 550

I also like the Zumo because it includes a car mount. I actually use the gps a lot for work and the one I have now is such a pain to use. Plus the screen is about 1"x1" and it is hard to read.
