Rider Down on Otis

BOURNE — State police said a man was killed early today when his motorcycle struck a curb, left the road and hit a utility pole on the Otis Air National Guard Base.

State police are not releasing the victim’s name at this time. They said they are awaiting proper identification and family notification before they release the name.

The fatal crash occurred about 1:10 a.m. on Turpintine Road on the base.

This crash is being investigated by state police detectives and the Otis Air National Guard Fire Department and emergency medical technicians.

...another sad day when a rider passes away. The way it sounds it was military personnel...even worse losing another person in unform losing their lives, this time it wasn't on foreign soil. RIP and god bless his family.

Re: Rider Down on Otis

RIP to the rider and best wishes to the rider's family.

The military is really getting fed up with losing servicemen to motorcycle fatalities. This isn't going to help matters much for those that wish to serve their country and ride a motorcycle.

Sad to hear of anyone going down, but a service member, that's just salt on the wound. My thoughts are with the family.

I read about it in the paper today. Guy was 55, they let you stay in that long? All it said about the bike was 2004 Honda.

Re: Rider Down on Otis

Yikes - rider down just minutes ago in Hollis, NH (Rt 130). I didn't see it, but a coworker saw the ambulance crew moving him off the pavement and onto a backboard...with no gear at all!

How hot is the pavement today? Road-rash and a tar skillet!!!!! OUCH!!!!!!
