Damn Divorce

It's finally happened. $8,000 and counting in attorneys fees have finally forced the sale of my Ducati 1098. I can no longer afford to keep it.

On the bright side, I bought this beastie (2007 GSXR-750), and will use the difference to pay down what I owe my attorney. I was destined to go back to a gixxah street bike.

A boat... A hole in the water you throw money in.

A divorce... A hole in your wallet she pulls money out of.

I'm headed for it myself. Hopefully mine isn't as expensive. Thankfully the bikes are paid for...

Sorry to hear about your tough times... Better days are ahead... (or, at least, that's what I keep telling myself)

Well...I hope so for your sake. We have not even made it to our pretrial conference and I'm deep in the hole on fees. I shudder at the thought of what it will cost to take this to trial.

After temporary orders issued, wife is now getting 1/2 of my take-home pay...leaving me to cover apartment, car, bills, track days, etc. on 1/2 my salary. Poor Degsy...still owe him a small amount of cash related to a few repairs on the race bike (Degs...check is in the mail)

Sorry about the news man. You have kids? if not be glad...
Mass. child support laws are really mom friendly and shaft the dad.
Believe me I know, I've got the Dept of Revenue around my pay check
until my youngest son is 23 ! My X could have married a millionaire
and it wouldn't change shite. But I'm not going to get started.
I could shovel that shit forever and not get anywhere!

Good news though about the 750 !
Yeah for low budget UJMs! I call 'em the poor man's Ferrari.

You know it's kind of funny how a lot of people think that way.

1. Child support is for the children..............PERIOD!
If the kids have clothes on their back, food in thier stomach and a roof over their head, who cares how it get's spent.
2. The laws are no longer geared toward the women.

You screwed yourself really!

Oh ya and sorry to hear about the split.

My divorce cost me about 700 bucks...........any questions?

And it has been THE MOST blessed past 5 years of my life!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree with that and also agree with 'that its for the children' part. However, I don't agree with the amount and how it ends up to my ex in the form of a blank check for her to do whatever she pleases with it.

I'd have a much better time if it arrived via bank card or check form where purchases could be tracked and I get a copy. Until then, the laws are very biased towards mommy.

Wow thats a lot of doe and she takes half your pay check?

The state of mass usually just splits things in half and each go their own way UNLESS there is kids.

Re: Damn Divorce

I'm going thru it right now, But I got a lawyer because of other things that happened. If you can go with mediation, it's the cheapest way out. I'm into it for about 3 grand. But everyone will get their share and it'll be even across the board. Soon to be single!

Re: Damn Divorce

How can anyone say BS, this state is obnoxious. A friend got a divorce, his ex lived in Fla, they didn't give her much of anything for child support. She comes back up to boston, has family here, she puts him through the ringer, he tries to argue his case that she doesn't live here and it is going to be next to impossible to see his daughter and the judge was pretty much tough shit.

If a woman fights you in MA, it is an uphill battle. If both parties are reasonable, then you can get out of it a little easier.

How are a woman and a tornado alike?

It starts with a whole lot of sucking and blowing, then you loose your house.

Re: Damn Divorce

My divorce from my first wife cost me my first house and forced me into bankruptcy, as we were in too deep to be able to sell. (Had mortgage and equity line, which totaled 125% of the selling price of the house.) I have been spending the last 10 years clearing out my credit.

Now I'm remarried to an awesome girl. Some of you have met her and she loves to ride. (we're working on getting her an EX500 and into an MSF course.)

But divorce is usually messy. Thankfully, mine was just messy financially and has not effected our son. We had a fairly amicable breakup, we were just in too deep.

Oh, ans back in 1998, I paid $2500 in legal fees, as it we settled very quickly.

Re: Damn Divorce

How about this for an example.

If you werent married and you had kids together, MA is even worse. technically if you were never married then the father has NO Rights to the child no matter how long you were together or blah blah blah.

You dont have any rights to visitation, no say in your child support payment its based on debt to income at least, If the mother feels she is being treated unfairly the state will up the amount owed and penalize you. Also quite strange is the system itself you pay 90$ a week lets say. the end result is 78$ a week that goes to the kid. The state gets a cut!

This isnt from me my buddy has a 3 year old i have known the parents since grade school and this is what happened. not to mention any time you miss a support payment the state fees the shit outta you.

So if your wondering why deadbeat dads are such a concern to the state it isnt for the sake of the kid but the money they owe the state for being behind on your payments.

sorry to hear about your situation good luck.
