Valve adjustment?Does it need to be done on a fuel injected bike? |

Re: Valve adjustment?depends on your bike and the adjustment method. I adjust the valves on the KTM all the time... Street bikes with "shim and bucket" need much less attention... 15K? I had 3x that on a KLR with no need for adjustment. |

Re: Valve adjustment?depends on bike / manf. for a 929 it is stated in the manual, but it is in the 10,000 to 20,000 range I believe. |

Re: Valve adjustment?Every bike is different. For example an SV get CHECKED first at 15k miles where as a Duc Monster S2R 800 is at 6 I believe. Just because you check them at those intervals doesnt mean they will need to be adjusted its just good to check them because over time they get tight and if they get too tight you will begin to damage the valves. Valve Clearances are also known as tappet clearances. |

Re: Valve adjustment?Ok well I bought it from a dealership when it had 4k on it, I am going to assume that it might be time for them to be adjusted, bike has 16.5k on it now. |

Re: Valve adjustment?I'd check them, but I wouldn't be surprised to find them all within spec. Just make sure the motor is COLD when you check. |

Re: Valve adjustment?Haven't looked. Reason I ask is because I'm trying to sell it and 2 people have asked about the valve adjustment. I'm going to assume that they were checked prior to me buying it rom the dealership and they were fine. |

Re: Valve adjustment?I had the valves on my 900RR checked at just over 20K by Mr. Kates and they were all fine. 2 cylinders were dead on, one was on the higher side of spec and the other on the lower side of spec. If you're a member of RRZone.com, they have downloadable manuals and microfiche for your bike in the downloads section. (same for 96-03 FireBlades [900RR, 929RR, and 954RR]) |
