Re: so... how do you wheelie?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS i did it. i did a real wheelie today for the first time.

i was very frustrated so i said fuck it and gave it a lot more gas than i ever had before and... the front tire went up at least 1 foot in the air
i nearly crapped my pants, i had to physically check to see if i did or not

unfortunately i was unable to recreate that awesome wheelie and the rest were disappointing. then it started raining so i hid under the trees and made my way back home and now here i am posting on nesr.

thanks everyone for the advice!

oh and this all took place in a completely empty teacher's parking lot at my old high school.

Re: so... how do you wheelie?

oh man, you're an asshole.... What if there was a car that you didn't see cuz it was painted camoflage by a crafty school teacher??? What if there was a school kid found it & was out there slashing the tires???

Damn dude, you almost killed a kid!

Just wait until you graduate into a modern 1000+ cc sport bike bike which can power wheelie at well over highway speeds!

His front wheel has 30 feet less wear on it than the rear, duh.

And his fork seals are now shot

Time to drop a tooth in the front and 2 or three in the back.

Or take it to New England Dragway. For the longest time I thought I had a clutch issue on the 12R because it felt soft when I power shifted into second gear. At the dragway it snapped right up when I caught second. Turned out to be a traction issue.

Re: so... how do you wheelie?

Eh, it's already geared a bit.

Actually I think it has partly to do with my wheelbase.... I think I left one too many links in my chain making it almost an inch longer than it was before.

yyeeaaaaa.... even though you're in a parking lot with little traffic and off the streets practicing, I wouldn't choose a school to mess around at the next time. Find a shopping mall or something. Schools, by their very nature, bring extra attention from the black and whites

More power to you for getting it up... now just add more power to the bike and it won't be a problem... but don't worry, you'll have plenty more problems getting certain things up many years in the future :old:

Re: so... how do you wheelie?

I don't know how I feel about this more power stuff. Any bike will wheelie, and more power gets you in trouble faster. If you can wheelie the slow one you will be able to do it with the fast one when you get there, and you will be better at it. Like racing, if your first bike is 5-10 years old and you can beat people on it, imagine what will happen when you buy something top of the line.

Nobody has said it, but on the way down make sure you lay into the gas or you will need fork seals again soon.
