Sprockets/Tires & Ratios

im changing the 42T on my RC to a 41T that i have laying around, the 42 is all hooked. I know this will 'lower' my low end torque

also, within the life of the 41T, im going to change my tire from a 190/50 to a 180/55 (also have that laying around)

My question is, how is changing the tire going to effect my gear ratio?

for the sprockets, use the online calibrator on speedohealer.com
for the tires

Put a 15 on the front, 41 on the back and enjoy. Who cares what the ratio is.

Re: Sprockets/Tires & Ratios

With a 6" rim, the 180/55 will still be ever so slightly larger in diameter than a 190/50. The circumference of the two should be within 1% of each other.

Variation in construction between tire brands could make the disparity larger or even reverse it.

Re: Sprockets/Tires & Ratios

i guess i wasnt asking what the actual gear ratios would be. i was just wondering if going from the 190/50 to the 180/55 would make a drastic change in the final drive ratio.

oh, the 190 i have is a Dunslop Qualifier and the 180 is a Pilot Power

IMO - you're worrying about something very miniscule - enjoy the quicker tip in with the 55 and smile!
