Road condition report, RT 125 VT

Came south on 7 and on to 125 to get over to the 100.

What a mess, no fun at all. Maybe on a motard or KLR but not a fun ride
on the Ninja.

Lots of cracking, missing sections on the right that looked to have been washed out and lots of road snakes. Not the kind of road I am used to and I wasn't about to kill myself while enjoying a ride with the misses.

Schucks!
I believe 73 was repaved last year and of course a bit north was 17.
Since your ride today was bad you should try again tomorrow!!!

Re: Road condition report, RT 125 VT

Well, by the looks of the 125 it has been a mess for a while.
103 out of Chester is sweet with the new surface laid down.

Would like to have joined up on the ride I was invited on today bit I'm posting from the shop right now.

After 5pm I'm going for a run over to Keene on 12a.

125 is horrendous...junk piece of road, it takes the cake for being the worst road in VT for 08...taking the place of 302 out of Barre for 07...though RT2 in the Capital sucks big time as well.

I like 103, but lots of traffic and cops...scares little billy

Went down to Brattleboro for the first time last week, and I am def. going to make it a point of hittin up the Cafe in Fellows Balls next time I head down!

Hope you had a good ride and avoided the pockets of rain.
I managed to go for a short blast between most of the raindrops. Took the 12 south, then the 63 and then 9 to Keene. I came home on the 12a and hit a bit of rain on the way, just enough to get damp a bit. Good ride, short and sweet.

I dunno about 125 is the worse, I rode on 232 thru Groton state park yesterday and 125 the day before , and route 2 thru montpelier still sucks

if you really wanna see sucky roads, go to Maine

232 would be slick if it got repaved. Coming from Groton, the first few miles is great, then the whole road goes down the tubes.

agree, 125 should be avoided completely

Been there too...its a different kinda shitty when you get into Maine...I was appalled at the huge gaping holes, three or four layers of old pavement deep when I went out there this spring...I did enjoy 302 through Crawford Gap though, that was awesome!

Crappy Roads are part of the NE Experience

I should have went to school for engineering.

Must be nice to get paid to be stupid. Granted there are many factors that influence road conditions, but working for a geographical information systems company...I've seen many many many f ups done by highly paid engineers.

Sad.

I don't blame engineers for our bad roads, most engineered roads are decent, and when they are not, it's not usually due to design, it's due to lack of maintenance, not enuf money, the road is on a 5-7 year resurfacing schedule when it should be on a 3 year schedule with NE winters

Re: Road condition report, RT 125 VT

Sorry I was thinking a few notches above you.

In many cases the road bed needs to be redone. Ever see a rough road get repaved and a year or two later, it's no better than it was? Road bed.

Another thing, some engineer...somewhere, decides to use pavement that absorbs water to help with run off, decrease hydro-planing, etc. Great idea. What does it do here in the winter? What does salt do to snow and ice? where does that melted snow and ice go? what happens at -20? what does water do when it freezes? In the end, the water gets absorbed, refreezes, expands, and blows the road up.

get it now? Perfectly fine road bed and an otherwise nice and smooth road with the wrong pavement put on it might as well be fulla holes. Maintenance won't prevent it, it was a stupid stupid decision by some idiot being cheap, who did nothing more than cause a lot of cracked windshields, dented hoods, and a complete repaving job to fix his or her foul up.

I'll spare ya from the multi-million dollar f-ups where interchanges are concerned
