WSBK

How can Ducati feel they are accomplishing something by competing on a bike 200cc larger than the I-4's... Ridiculous. Why even air the races?

It's the only reason I watch WSBK, Haga makes the race exciting no matter what possition he is in

Re: WSBK

From the 1098R review on motorcycle.com...

Quote:
World Superbike rules allow 1200cc Twins in '08, albeit with a 13 lbs weight penalty and air restrictor plates (like a washer that sits between the cylinder head and throttle bodies). The initial size, or opening, will be 50mm, and pending how a Twin performs in WSBK, restrictors will go up or down in size in 2mm increments: 46mm minimum opening to a maximum opening of 52mm. If the big twin starts dominating races, in goes the smaller plate(s); if it gets left eating dust, the larger plates go in. So with those technicalities out of the way, the first point of change from the regular ol' 1098 – other than DTC– was opening up the L-Twin's bore and stroke.
1098R redline: 10,500-rpm

07 GSXR 1000 redline: 13,750-rpm

Engine configuration has more to do with parity then just displacement alone.

(this is coming from someone who runs a 1200 against 650's and still looses)

Re: WSBK

I agree the Ducs have had there way all year, good to see Corser up there but he looses too much ground in the later stages

But how about Fabrizzio!!!!

Why wouldn't I be...I posted it.

You can talk about engine config, weight or whatever you want. 200cc's is a huge advantage. Shall i counter your weight arguments and engine config arguments with a torque argument and engine pulse argument? There's no way a bike as refined and powerful as the gsxr should be losing so much on average lap speed.

Just give them the trophy at the beginning of the season.

I bitch seasonally about this, but never has it been more flagrant.

Re: WSBK

So same question...

1200cc Twin or a 1000cc inline 4?

It is all about how it delivers power.

Re: WSBK

It's not like they're winning buy huge margains. Top speeds are pretty even and behind Corser there's a pretty even mix of manufacturers on the podium.

Yes I'm a mindless sheep who's unable to think for himself. Nailed it in one. I sure as heck don't know much about twins, racing, or real-world on-track performance.

By 'your' logic Larry Pegram and Eric Wood should be dominating AMA FX with their +250cc advantage with the 848's.
