    NESBA BANS MOTARDS

    At "fast tracks"

I confirmed this by email with someone there, and I have no other details besides this.

Question for those who've ran at Thunderbolt - NESBA TrackTalk Forum

Yea, the emails I got were like 6 words.

"no motards at our fast tracks"

Its total bullshit since ex 250's will be allowed and I seriously can whip past those on the straights??

Now Im shit outta luck if it rains, instead of all set.

    Re: NESBA BANS MOTARDS

That thread is interesting, they didn't once address the 500 or 250cc issue. If it's strictly top speed that is a concern with having motards on the track, then how can a stock 250 possibly be allowed?

    Re: NESBA BANS MOTARDS

There seem to be some underground motard hating politics in there. Everyone is claiming love for motards, but they are not following a logical arguement...ie if motard aren't allowd no other smaller bikes should be either. There is no problem with anyone understanding in that thread if:

    1. they also ban other smaller bikes to be consistent with their safety claim (which wont happen becaise they know they'll lose too many attendee??)

    2. They give advance notice of such things for people not to sign up.

I was going to sign up for this day, but Im glad I didn;t since my only bike...a tard is banned, and there was no metion of it back in june when Manny and I were talking about it.

This is just a NESBA thing and not a NJMP thing right...so my tard is good for Tony's on the 13th?? TONY?????

    Re: NESBA BANS MOTARDS

That is asinine. They continue to go on and on about how it is the passing bikes responsibility to make a safe clean pass, and then ban the slower bikes. If someone, or a group , on faster bikes can't make a safe, courteous, clean pass on a slower bike, they should be the ones to make an adjustment. Anyone can go fast in a straight line, there are no awards, let people have their fun. Last trackday I went to there was groups riding at different speeds and you chose the one that best fit your abilities. Maybe we should suggest that...

I guess I won't be doing any more NESBA days.

    Re: NESBA BANS MOTARDS

Are they talking about racing or track days?

What is considered a FAST TRACK. At Loudon there can be a difference of 40 mph at the end of the main straight. Add another 10 and there is 50 mph. If you are looking down the track (and you had better be) you should be able to see what you are coming into.

This sounds like the whole Skiing /Snowboarder thing.

I think things will get uglier before there is a resolve….

Manny get a refund and come down with TTD on October 13th.

    Re: NESBA BANS MOTARDS

Ya it doesnt make much sense unless they ban the other slow bikes. What kills me and its something that has happened to me in the past, is some people on the liter bikes which are so fast in the straight park it in the corners. I think thats more dangerous then a slower bike keeping a steady pace out there. One incident comes to mind where my rear wheel lifted off the ground because the guy that was going faster then me from 2 to 3 decided he had to brake to about 20 before hitting the crack and then coasting it through the turn. At least I know if Im coming up on a motard I know the bike will be slower.

I really hope you were kidding with this statement

I believe NESBA (yes, I'm a member and do about a dozen days a year with them) is trying to be as safe as possible for the club as a whole. If this ruffles the feathers of some motard riders than so be it. I applaud the effort they are making to try and keep ALL riders safe, including the motards by keeping them off the track. In my opinion, no motards/250's in Intermediate or Advanced but should be allowed in Beginner group because its a slower paced group with strict passing rules...... I know, thats not perfect either but thats how I feel.

In all seriousness, all I am saying is this:

THINK ABOUT A RULE BEFORE YOU MAKE IT.....and try to have it make sense. If it doesnt, go back to the drawing board and re-work it to make sense. If the problem is top speed, address it as such, and include all bikes under that speed, if it something else then explain what and address it.

Member or not, you're clearly missing the point. These are trackdays. People should have the opportunity to go out on the bike they are comfortable on and have a good safe time. By saying a bike is too slow and that makes it dangerous is ridculous. I have been out on the track with people on bigger bikes going slower than me and guys on smaller bikes going faster.

Hell I've been to VIR and its a 165mph front straight with a blind right turn following a motard on my 600 in the fast group. In no way were we unsafe as everyone easily passed us on the outside and we held our line. This idea of limiting a bike because of it size, to me is more the trackday organizer being lazy and taking an approach that doesn't require them to educate their members to know how to make a safe pass. I can't tell you how many times at a trackday I have taken a striaghtaway in "relaxed mode" to re gather myself and think about what im working on. Should I be banned because my bike was capable of 135 but was doing 90?

So to answer your question, ya, if I went, I'd rip thru the turns and bring a bagged lunch to eat while on the straights just to prove a point that the rider's brain size is more important the bike's CC size. Applauding them? I don't know about that - however your idea to limit them to say the intermediate group would be a reasonable idea and probably something the riders themselves would have chosen to do anyhow. NESBA looks like its lacking some common sense or thought right now. Hope they do the right thing as people have paid money and planned trips around the posted rules of the event.

+1 Jesus Dennis that's probably the smartest thing you've ever said

Seriously they are completely avoiding the question about other small displacement bikes. Clearly they are biased against motards for one reason or another and their argument is entirely illogical. The part I'm curious about is WHY they're doing it

Agreed, they jumped the gun on making a rule to exclude just motards and should have put more thought into it.

You're missing the point... at a track day... someone going slow on the straight isn't a hazard in the first place.
