Re: Best Cycle, Nashua. anyone have any experience with them?

Well...I have limited experience with them. I called on the phone to ask about the leftover SV1000S that have listed on their site. The guy I talked to verged on being a dick, as he completely avoided any questions about it, telling me they were "extremely busy" that day, but if I came in, he love to talk to me some more. Typical sales tactic, but whatever; I was planning on heading that way anyway, so no big deal.

Then I get there, and when I asked where the SV1000S was, the sales guy I talked to told me that they got rid of the guy who updated the website a while ago, so it might not be accurate (even though the website is regularly updated with sale info...must be magic). I asked several times if the bike was there, but he never once actually answered with a "yes" or "no." Just said over and over "its probably old info. We have GSX-R1000s, though..." After telling him that the only "1000" I was interested in was the SV, he said "Well we've got some SV750s in stock."

I'll end the story right there.

I would not waste my time with them....I live down the street from them, and each time I have gone in there they act like you are bothering them. You can get better deals at Naults in Manchester,....for parts ask for Herb, and I recently bought a king quad from Mike. It is by far the better dealer

Re: Best Cycle, Nashua. anyone have any experience with them?

Bought 2 bikes from them and had horrible experiences both times. I gave them a second chance and they still failed miserably. My "salesman" had never ridden, sat on or even twisted the throttle of a motorcycle. They have the "sleazy salesman" role down perfectly. I walked out with a new bike....with no gas and a yoke that had not been tightened down.

Parts is another story.....they are even worse than their sales department. Dennis who is the parts manager is rude and confrontational. Gives you the feeling
like you are doing him a favor by patronizing his parts department.

Customer service is not their first priority.........taking the hard sell approach and moving bikes is their mission.

I would NOT recommend buying a motorcycle, or parts from Best Cycle in Nashua NH

stay away like the plague. if you HAND them a part that you need a replacement for they will give you the wrong one back.

    Tru dat.

I could understand if it was a slip-up (maybe thinking of the GSX-R). But he said it 4 times, by my count. He actually believed in the 750.

+1 for Naults. They're just as good in the Salem Naults. Great people, great prices. Parts guys are helpful and knowledgeable.

Re: Best Cycle, Nashua. anyone have any experience with them?

    Sales:
I used to love them and didn't shop anywhere else, then they moved and since I haven't had a favorable experience at all.

I tried them when looking for a cheap 1krr and they pretended they had the lowest pricing so I invited them to a reality check. However, oVTo on this forum just got his 08 1krr from them and they seemed to act un-high and he got a very good deal.

Naults in Windham, dealt with Cliff there and he was very cool. They like to push the "prep fee" there pretty hard, so I just made them lower their price enough that the "prep fee" included what I was willing to pay. Cliff used to work at Best, he worked there back when I used to shop there and is a good dude.

    Parts:
Everything at Best was a special order but they weren't really comfortable giving me lead times. It's been a few since I tried them though.

    Service:
When I got my 02 954 from Best (in 02, to keep this relevant ) I had to get some recalls done there, their service dept. was decent, the tech work on my bike was really good, and I never had an issue with any of the bikes I got from them.

never been imporessed with them. I work across the street so go in there evry now and then when someone at work is looking for a bike. they are slow to respond to anything if they even bother responding, and i have always know more about the bikes than they do.

the few times i have had to order a part, they have ben grossly overpriced and i end up ordering it from RJ's up the street a bit.

Yeah...to chime in with others in this thread, I've gone in there looking at CRF's , ST's, V-strom's, and every time they prove themselves beyond clueless.

A good friend of mine worked there for a couple months and had to leave because of their business practices. He said to stay far far away whether you're coming in for service or looking to buy.
I still can't figure out how they are in business since everyone I know has had a bad experience there

Re: Best Cycle, Nashua. anyone have any experience with them?

I bought a tire and had it mounted there once. It was the beginning of the season, I picked up a nail in my rear tire and was desperate to get a new one mounted. Price was not an issue, time was. It was Wednesday and I wanted to see if I could get it done before the weekend. I drove around from place to place trying to find someone who could get me a tire and mount it ASAP. Of all the places only Best said they could do it by Friday, but they were twice as expensive. When I mentioned the outrageous price to the guy at the counter he responded with "yeah but we can get it done before the weekend and no one else can". Second in line was was RJ's who said it was possible but wouldn't promise anything before Monday, they were charging just over half as much.

I chose Best and waited just over a full week for my new tire to come in and be mounted. They kept telling me the tire wasn't in yet and that there was nothing they could do since their parts distributor was not up front with them about the availability of the tire.

The worst part is I was able to confirm RJ's had the tire, they like to keep them in stock and had an order on its way when I initially inquired, which had come in on Monday, and therefore could have mounted it on Monday. This wouldn't have been before the weekend but at least RJ's was accurate.

After finding this out I tried to cancel my order with Best, the guy at the counter told me I would have to pay a restocking fee, but the tire was sure to come in the next day, and they could mount it right away. It didn't come in for another three days, they didn't mount it until two days after that cause service was "booked". All this and in the end it literally cost me almost double what I would have paid at RJ's who would have delivered when they said, and a lot sooner than Best.

Well, my friend just bought an 08 1000RR there today ($7800 out the door) and said he had a really great experience. I will let him post his reviews. He did say that they were restructuring and had new management so that might be part of it.

Chuck, 07 silver 1000rrs are $7600 out the door there.

    derek

The new management must be doing something right as that is the second 1krr there for a reasonable price that I have heard of. When I called them a few weeks ago they acted like I was asking them to have my baby or something just trying to get under 8k, which was my starting point everywhere else.

Glad to hear things might be turning around there at least on the sales front

I remember a few years ago when I bought my GSX-R there.....Brian was the General Sales Manager and he gave me the same line that they are "restructuring".

Buyer beware.......if you have a choice between two dealers and the same price....do not buy from Best Cycle

I bought a couple cbr 600's from them. Things went well for me, but they did come off as being a little sleazy. I got great deals both times, that's pretty much all I look for when I'm buying anyway.

The '03 600rr I bought from them put the con-rod through the block at 500 miles. They had a new motor in the bike a week later. I thought that was good work on their part. Their guy in service was pretty cool, he did some work on a 4-wheeler cylinder head I had and didn't charge me anything.

Re: Best Cycle, Nashua. anyone have any experience with them?

Short story - I've bought 2 bikes from Best and had good experiences both times.

    Long story -

I bought my RC51 at Best in '00. That was when EVERYONE was charging way over MSRP. Yup, RCs were actually that hot when they first came out. I called every dealer in New England and couldn't find one for less than MSRP + $1000, and many were $2000+ over.

I decided look at TLs and SuperHawks (I wanted a big twin and couldn't afford a Duc) and while we were talking the sales manager mentioned he had reserved one for himself and was going to sell it at a premium and pocket the difference. A few weeks later I dropped by again and he said he was reconsidering flipping it and 15 minutes later it was mine at MSRP. It was a long time ago, but he knew his bikes, he was a good guy (even remembered me by name and asked about the bike years later) and that was by far the 'Best' deal around. A few years later I sent a friend who was looking for a 1100xx to Best and he was very happy with the deal he got.

I had the 600 mile service done there and they did a good job. I had the next service done at a non-franchise shop and they totally fucked it up. No damage, but not a good job - didn't do work they said they did, bolts were loose and missing, body panels weren't secure, etc. I brought it to Naults next because I wanted it tuned and the Power Commander remapped at the same time and was pleased with Naults service too.

Flash forward to this fall - I had been thinking about a new bike for a while and was leaning toward either a 675 or a 750. Then the crazy CBR deals came out. The CBR1000RR oil threads scared me away for awhile, but then I reconsidered. Just like with the RC, I called most of the dealers in New England telling them what I was looking for and the price I expected to pay. Then I negotiated with the top 3. Best's OTD price beat Naults, and the other dealer wasn't close. Unlike some other dealerships, neither Best nor Naults wasted my time with stupid salesman tricks. I was impressed with both dealerships. I was not impressed with some of the other dealerships. At least not in a good way.

The decision really came down to the fact that I had a good experience at Best with the RC51, they had the color combo I wanted, and they were closer than Naults.

Re: Best Cycle, Nashua. anyone have any experience with them?

I once walked in to Worst Cycle to check out their stock. Had a question on one of the floor models. After finally tracking down a "sales" associate he was rude and answered my questions with one line quick to end answers. On another occasion I was pricing a part for my 929 and the parts guy was an complete Asshole. Gave me an outragous price and when I told him that his competitor was lower by $30.00 he said well go there then and next thing I heard was click. Never will go to Worst Cycle again nor will I recommend those POS.
I always find myself going back to Freedom Cycle in Concord, NH. They usually have my parts in stock 9 of 10 times and always beat Nault's prices. Talk to Hank in sales, Dustin in Service, Timmy in Parts. Also they are all into some kind of motorsport they know their shit.

Re: Best Cycle, Nashua. anyone have any experience with them?

Before they moved... they seemed to be fine.

I bought my SV650 from them back in 2001... I don't recall anything bad about the purchasing experiences, I paid MSRP but they got me a better loan then I would have expected nowdays. They had gotten it through Chittenden instead of Honda Finance, and the APR was about 3 points lower then Honda.

I then had them repair it after I dumped it... insurance paid, they charged an absolute fortune (like $3000?), but they repaired it 100% perfectly. You'd never have been able to tell the bike had ever been down, no one from NESR had met me at that point, I doubt anyone ever guessed I'd damaged the bike pretty badly when I first started riding.

After they moved... things are not so great.

I've gone in for parts a few times.. Dennis is OK, if a little odd sometimes. But some of the kids working there are HORRIBLE. As in they don't even know who makes a VFR, or a CBR, or a GSX-R. I forget exactly what it was but earlier this year I walked in with a Honda Part # for my bike and asked the kid to look up the price and he couldn't even figure out what the heck I had handed him. I ended up buying the part online instead.

In 2007 they did a recall service on my VFR... I was pretty unhappy about this.. the recall service required replacing about 50% of the wiring harness, their mechanic could not get it done in the book time Honda was paying them for, and they stuck me for the bill. On top of that, they had forgotten to plug the front turn signals into the wiring harness when I picked it up, and had not inspected the bike before handing it back to me. I declined to let them fix it, rode it home, and plugged the signals back in myself. Not cool when you can't put the bike back together correctly despite taking significantly longer then Honda says your trained mechanics should take.

To try and make it up to me Dennis offered me a discount on parts.. I ended up using it to buy my brother a rearstand for his GSX-R, not sure if I really got a good deal, it was one of the cheesy Suzuki stands as opposed to something nice, and the $$ he took off the price was nowhere near what they stiffed me for on the recall... however I didn't really want to pay shipping on a stand ordered over the internet.

I've been in many times since I lived so close to their dealership.. they have certainly had bikes marked way off sticker over the years.. it's surprising to hear people say they couldn't get a deal there. But that is too be expected if you gotta have the latest coolest bike in the current model year in an exact color I think.

Re: Best Cycle, Nashua. anyone have any experience with them?

bought my SV1kS there. wasnt impressed. after about 10-15 min someone finally appeared to help me. i said "I want that" and pointed to the SV1KS on the floor. i got the whole "well we'll see how you credit is" i assured him it was fine, he asked what i was putting down i replied with "0"...i got the "we'll see" again.
fast forward to haggle. they tried to charge set up.. i worked in a shop...the shop gets paid by the factory for you to put the bike together. i got just over cost ( i knew what cost was) so i got a good deal on it.
fast forward to paperwork...guy im dealing with has no clue what hes selling me heres how the convo went:
    Him:ok..make
    pause...looks at me
Me:Suzuki..(i wasnt aware these were questions..i thought he was thinking aloud
    H: ok....model
    M:SV1000S
    H: cc's
    M: ummm...1000
    H:ok..how may cylinders?
    M:2
    H:2?
    M:yup
    H:are you sure?
    M:yup
H:oh, so its like a ducati
    M:just like a Ducati ()
    M:shouldnt you know this stuff?
H: well im a cruiser guy...ask me about those and i know
M: isnt it your job to be knowledgeable about ALL of the product on your floor?
H:i like cruisers so thats i stick with

it pissed me off that i handed some guy a commission when i knew they had the bike and i knew i wanted it so there was no "selling" involved.

after i got the bike home..i realized i had no inspection sticker. short story...they mailed me $25 to get it inspected.
