I gotta be honest, I take that a little less serious because of the music.

Re: Nifty braking system

Wonder what keeps the caliper supports from spinning? Cool how there were all kinds of caliper placement options.

Re: Nifty braking system

question is, is that suitably different to avoid buell's patent attorneys?

Re: Nifty braking system

Trick quick release on the brake lines... I wonder how easy it is to balance those rims with the brakes in there or how it is affected by this system.

Anyone read Italian who could interpret the text for us?

I'm not an engineer but I would venture a guess that this setup would react similar to the Buell "ZTL" brake which is a Zero Torsion Load which has less unsprung weight and less mass. That much I understand for sure but I also believe it is a function of how the force reacts on the wheel, tire and forks - better, more even delivery. Like I said no engineer.

Re: Nifty braking system

Is the rim a 2 or 3 piece design to facilitate removal of the rotor?

Or maybe they just make you buy a whole new rim assembly...

Re: Nifty braking system

Re: Nifty braking system

Looks too complex for the possible benefit. Nifty looking though.

Re: Nifty braking system

Great. Now we can all look forward to replacing our caliper (carrier) bearings.
Not.
*Fail*
The only significant advantage I can see is reduced likelyhood of disc damage when changing a tire.

Re: Nifty braking system

I see two improvements over the Buell ZTL setup... the rotor is centered so the braking force isn't off axis, and the rotor is a floating unit so it shouldn't be susceptible to traditional ZTL chatter. On the other hand, Buell's setup didn't require a multi-piece wheel.

Re: Nifty braking system

this setup looks like it'll weigh a lot more than a traditional setup.

Re: Nifty braking system

KISS - keep it simple stupid

Buell got it right. This is way more complex than it needs to be. Feeding brake pressure through the axle... really? That's just silly.
