Crash in Haverhill

Haverhill--

'A New Hampshire man's leg was severed in a motorcycle accident on Rt 495 yesterday afternoon.

Police said Keith M. Desantes Jr. of 67 Windham Rd, Pelham, NH suffered the leg injury and was taken to Lawrence General Hospital. Desantes was transferred to Mass General Hospital in Boston, where his condition was not available last night. A hospital spokesman said Desantes was being evaluated by doctors.

Police are investigating reports that Desantes and other motorcyclists were doing wheelies on the highway shortly before the accident happened at 2:30 pm. No charges had been filed as of last night.

State police Trooper Donald Twombly is investigating.'

ugh.

reminds me... my sister-in-law just started an EMS internship in albuquerque. the other day they got a call for a motorcycle accident, and all they could find was a lower leg. that's it. not knowing what else to do, they took the leg to the hospital.
swear to god.

certainly does make it more personal... wonder if it was the kid on the yammy who cruised by while we were eating lunch, etc, etc.

I've said it before in other threads: anybody gets hurt on a bike, it affects me personally... in cases like this, it's a re-e-e-eal sharp reminder.

I know the people who worked that call (EMS) and it was a bad scene. Supposedly his GF was in a car just behind them and saw the whole thing. Can you imagine that! That poor girl. The best wishes of myself every one else that I know in the local EMS comunity go out to Kieth and his family and friends. With so many local (Haverhill) people on the board, I find it kind of amazing that no one knew him directly.

Yeah I heard about it from my dad who read it in the paper. I don't actually know anyone in Haverhill, surprisingly (other than my neighbors).
