My bike is Sold

youre my height so heres my take on bikes that i have sat on that are in the middle class range you might look at...

-f4i is comfy and compared to other 600s the height is almost right
-r6 is comfy but slightly too tall - but if lowered would be okay
-gxsr 600 was too big and bulky not to mention way too high
-zx6 the lean was more aggressive than i was expecting (especially while having a bike that doesnt have one or much of one) but surprisingly comfy

i dont know what to tell you about the sv650 tho it is a popular bike to step up to and there are plenty of guys here that ride it who you could ask questions to about it.

well seeing as that comment came from ken i'm not surprised

just ask josh about times we'd be out when we first started dating and I'd shock him by saying *fill in the blank* (name of bike) as it went by ... he'd just look at me and have this huge grin on his face

some guys are just clueless 03f4ichick

dude, get the SV. It's an *awesome* bike to step up to the sports world. ACtually, get the SVS 'cause the riding position is that bit more aggressive and the wind won't suck on the highway quite so much.

Uh-oh Ken, now you pissed off 03F4ichick!

Man, I would HATE to have three chicks on sportbikes being all mad at something I said. Especially if I met them in a dark ally and they got all rough with me....

Wait just a second....isn't that what most of us guys dream about?!

Dood, go for the SV. Great bike, and there is no plastic covering it all up. The S model might be more what you want. If you get a chance to, try one out first to see if you like it. I'm betting you will!

What about the Honda 919 Hornet? I think that bike is BALLS. Not as funky looking as the Z1000, but still kinda out there.

You two beautifull, talented and mad-skilz having women, are NOT the chicks that I had in mind. (I'm sure ninjachic is just as wonderfull too). I ment the average chick who looks at a bike and is all like "ohhh, shiny and fast, that guy must be hot too". You know tha type, there are about 6 zillion of them up the beach. You two (three I'm sure) women have proven yourselves to be way more than average. And the one of you who isn't a duck is kinda cute

Your buddies R6, what did he have his preload set at? If you're shorter, and maybe lighter less preload may work for you and help you touch the ground. Bikes have to be set up for the averages of the masses so usually its tough to find one with a perfect suspension unless you fit what the manufacturers expect their average customer to be.

From what I can remember about these bikes:

Gix6 is still nice imo but its about time for it to be reworked. It's kinda wide and bulbous but offers good wind protection, prolly the best of the bunch as far as wind protection goes. Stock seat is nice, passenger pillion pretty nice too. Couple more dips in power than newer bikes.

-ZX6 - 636 ccs, CHEATERS!! hehe.. makes good power for the street. I've heard bad things about the steering head and tank slappers on this one. Upside down shocks, and radial mounted brakes may be nice.

-F4i is a nice tool if most of your riding is going to be done on the street and its high bars help take more weight off your wrists. Lower pegs too so you'll have more leg room, but that's not necessarily a good thing, i prefer my legs to fit into the grooves in the tank perfectly so it'll depend on your size. Also, You'll probably want an aftermarket seat tho.

-R6 Very nice bike, very smooth fuel injection. It's got a lil' dip in power before it starts reachin' for the sky but all and all a well refined ride and very light and easy to maneuver. One of the best in terms of comfort and speed. Fastest steering of the bunch too. Looks - eh.. the front end kinda looks like a pig snout but otherwise the silver/black is sweet..

-Sv650 Twin.. Twins have a nice sound.. lots of torque down low means its easy to drive around town. Very forgiving bike. Suspension doesn't inspire confidence like the others here, but for $2,000.00 that's easily taken care of. Comfortable enough to ride for days on end, nice soft seat which makes it hard to slide from side to side. Great value bike, hard to beat it. Prolly one of the smoothest engines.

-SV650S, same thing with wind protection and less comfy seating.

The bikes these days are all so comptetive, it'd be hard to be unhappy with any of them.

thanks for the help ,

Been to a couple of dealerships , Bettencourts wouldn't budge on MSRP except freight and prep charges on the SV650S , Parkway cycles gave me a Eff'ed up quote of about 7 grand , and was telling me to get a gixxer or cbr instead.

Hmmmm , If I could remember there was a left over 2001 Triumph TT 600 at some dealership I went to before . . . hmmmmmmmmm maybe I may turn out with a Triumph

Dealers

Sky cycle always sells $50 over MSRP. They don't mess around with haggling much, they're very straightforward and helpful.

I've heard good things about Cycle Design in Phillipston, MA.

I bought my SV from Greater boston motorsports for $5500 at one of their shows. You can haggle with them just watch out for all their added fees.

A few months back motorcyclist had a "second-tier" sportbike shootout. They took all the current production bikes which were slightly eclipsed by more edgy brethren, and compared them in a totally subjective, biased manner. The bikes tested were the TT, F4i, ZX6E, YZF600, and Katana 600.

It's an interesting read; of course it wasn't a fair fight, and the results pretty much reflected that. Basically they thought the F4i was the best bike, the YZF was the best value, the TT was a great bike but too much money for what you got, the ZX6 was slightly better than a huffy, and the tuna was slightly worse :-D.

But more importantly, they dissected the ergos of each bike. Gave you hard numbers on distance to the pegs, bar rise, etc. No substitute for sitting on them but since you're looking at the TT and F4i you might want to take a look and see what they look like on paper.
