Exhaust repacks???

  1. #26

    Re: Exhaust repacks???

Well the repack appeared to be a success.... for a day.... I wonder if perhaps it slipped down or something.... which prompted my for sale thread. Yah, she just went and got all loud on me again but the power loss is not as bad as it was and it's not quite as loud as it was 3 days ago but still much louder than it was when I bought her. So I am wondering if there is something different I could do... I could tolerate the sound initially, just trying to get back to that.

Wondering if there are other baffles that might work and be quieter..... which is what y'all want me to do anyway hahahahaaa..

The top pic is hootlarious man that puppy is ROACHED!

    That's after 1 day?
You may have something else going on with your engine.
How's your fuel mileage? Better than before the swap?
I'd say the heat is burning through the packing.
Unfortunately, that means you're also probably cooking something in your engine.

That's actually not bad. I have pulled out like a half a handful of compressed packing from a pipe before.

I'm not sure why you are considering a shorty pipe. That will certainly be louder. If you want quieter, buy a used stock pipe.

No no that's before the repack, sorry I wasn't clear. I haven't pulled the new pack out to check it yet.

The stubby isn't louder check it out it's cool as hell and can't weigh half as much and carries it lower. And it's pretty damn trick looking as well.

See what I mean? I thought it would be loud too but it's slightly but DEFINITELY quieter than the powermax was when I first got it. I think that's the way to go unless there is a repack trick I'm missing. Just hate to break out that wallet again

Ahhhh.... but you should hear what's on there now. Perhaps I will audio it tomorrow morning, I pulled up next to a cat on an SV and told him to listen up.

"Damn is that a track only pipe on the street?"

    "Basically yes at this point."
