Street, Race, Dirt all in one bike?

I took the "tard" for a rip up the street today for the first time with the new wheels and gearing It was one of the funnest things i've ridden in quite some time.. Effortless turning, VERY smooth power, bumps? you don't feel them!!
I'm almost thinking i may get the Baja Designs street legal kit for it and get a Vt tag for it
It looks like it won't take more than 20 minutes to take the street shit off and make it race ready for the track. At the same time, it'll take less than an hour to convert it back to dirt use
Anyone want and 03 R6?

Think I am going to buy me a KLR650. Dual-purpose seems like a lot of fun in remote NH.

Did you put a deposit on a 04 R1 yet! That R6 is starting to look old.

And your SV never looked new

Nope, no new R1 for me. Seems like a cool bike but i don't even use the power the 6 has, nevermind another R1.

Hmmm. maybe a new YZ450 though

Fine, don't buy a new R1, and we will have to revoke your poser status. The R6/R7 don't qualify, every current poser needs undertail exhaust...

I still not sure if you can handle all the power the pocket bike has.

HA! I was gonna ask about that! I was wondering how - or if - anyone here has converted a motard for the street...

There are a few companies that sell dual sport kit's for these bike. It comes with all the street lighting requirements and on the YZ i'd have to get a lighting coil. It's kinda costly but may be worth it Lookin like about 6 bills, then i'd register in Vt

I believe VT is the only state that allows you to register a converted dirtbike as a street legal motorcycle. Most states will only allow motorcycles that are DP street-legal directly from the factory (DR650SE, DRZ400S, XR650L etc).

I know rhode island won't register it. I got the R7 registered by luck (had a off road CO just like a dirtbike) and i know i couldn't pull that off again
I beleive Vt is the only state to allow a non resident to register a road vehicle in their state. If i remember correctly, mass and maine do allow dirtbike conversions if they are properly inspected?

Mass will let you do it, I got a plate on my 370 Frontera last week. I never realised how far it was from my house to work til I rode that thing in this morning! If you put a plate on that thing Mark that means I gotta get one too, I'm gonna have a 10000 dollar YZ by the time I'm done. Don't do it !

Just tape a flashlight to your helmet. I've sold a couple Baja Designs kits, nice stuff, good instructions. there's a good writeup on these guys www.trickdualsport.com on thumpertalk, all the wires and crap are in the headlight, easy removal for racing. Either way you have to spend big bucks to get lighting power. The E-line kit is about 400 bucks.I found one for about half that, right about the time the van's tranny started acting up so I had to pass.Moose sells a 50w stator for about 200.The Electrex kit blooks pretty nice too.Break out the checkbook and go for it ! Just don't let me see the thing when you're done.

What did you do to that poor bike

Hey, what did you use for a catch can for the fuel overflow tubes and the crankcase breather tube?

I ran all the overflow tubes into the airbox and plugged the airbox drain. I used the Lockhart can as a radiator overflow, and ran the tube into the airbox also.
