could we have the local vendors list their recommended HOT tire pressures for 120/160 & 120/180 tires? I wanted to keep a cheat sheet handy for when I go to the track.
Bridgestone 003 - 30 psi front, 30 psi rear
Bridgestone BT003 RS Track Day Tire 32 psi front, 31 psi rear
Bridgestone BT003 Pro DOT Race 31 psi front, 30 psi rear

Bridgestone Superbike Slicks 31 psi front, 28 psi rear
Conti DOT - 30 psi front, 28 psi rear
Conti slicks - 29 psi front, 26 psi rear
Dunlop DOT - 33 psi front, 23 psi rear
Dunlop slicks -
Michelin Pilot Power, Power 2CT and Pilot Pure - 31 psi front, 28 psi rear COLD
Michelin Power Race and Power One - 31 psi front, 22 psi rear COLD
Michelin Power One 16.5 slicks - 31 psi front, 22 psi rear. COLD
Michelin slicks 17" - 31 psi front, 28 psi rear (1247A / 1847C generations) COLD

Go post your arrogant additude somehwere else. I'm sure there's some new track riders out there that would be interested in getting some info for their tires.Originally Posted by Paul_E_D

Off track for Continental and Pirelli.
Our pressures are always given as HOT pressures, meaning where the tire should be at it's operating temperature (as in on the track) for any given day. The trouble with pressures "hot off the warmers" are the track surface temp and ambient temps vary wildly, especially in New England and you will see very different gains depending on the weather. Some tire brands may be less sensitive to this, but IMO regardless of brand you should *always* get in a habit of figuring out what your typical *gain* is (change in PSI up or down from when the tires come off the warmers to when they are HOT right off the track). It is not unusual to see a front tire LOSE pressure on colder days, and on super hot days a rear tire can gain 3-4 psi.
Here is an article that was put together earlier this year explaining tuning your tire pressures in more detail.
Typically, we recommend off the warmers as leaving the front at it's HOT spec, and to expect a gain of around 2 psi in the rear. This was fairly consistent between both Pirelli and Continental. We also found that most customers turning quicker lap times, liked the rear tire to be about 1 psi below the recommended HOT pressures.
Pirelli DCIII - 33 psi front, 33 psi rear
Pirelli Supercorsa Pro DOT Race - 32 psi front, 28 psi rear
Pirelli Diablo DOT Race - 32 psi front, 28 psi rear
Pirelli Diablo SLICK - 32 psi front, 28 psi rear
These are all recommendations for a starting point for tuning the pressures. All are hot off the track recommendations. For trackday riders not running warmers, set them cold about 2 psi lower and check them right when you come off your morning warmup session, adjust, then check/adjust again after your first open session. I've got a document that describes the pressure tuning process pretty well, email me at mike@gomtag.com and I can send anyone interested a copy, or you can pick one up at any LRRS event.

holy jebus. 25/23? I've been using 27/25 and people were saying it was too low (bstones, cold. according to the chart I should be @ 25/23). I should try those pressures and see what happens.

Those are COLD preasures referenced at 25/23. You might not heat the tires as much as the bikes/riders referenced in that chart. That is why you should set your preasures hot. I would not drop to those cold. I would use the hot preasures recomendations on the same chart and go from there.
i knew the michelin recommendations were a bit lower than the traditional 32/32, which was the reason for this thread. i wanted to make a quick index card to bring with me when at the track. i plan on trying different tires, as I have Dunlops, Michelin, and Conti's to use. Plus, i've been asked by fellow riders I'm garaging with, and it would be convient to have something handy.
