Doc's 8/26 LAPS Report

Sorry this is so late.

Lets start in the beginning... I head down Teusday night for my LAPS day Wed, Meet up with Darrel, Ryan Nicohlson and Buddha at the Red Roof, talk racing over beers in the parking lot for awhile, Ryan promises to show me some fast lines.
Get to the track Early (Like the 5th guy there), set up and tech the Hawk, the Duc had to get new rubber and I was waiting on the dude.

Go out on the Hawk for the 2 FTL sessions, this was actually good because I had missed the last 3 race weekends so I had to get the line down and work on body position and finding my markers. By the 3rd session the Ducati is ready (well mostly ready, more on that later). Ryan had arrived with my New, old style tank for the Duc and a rear rim and Tony was there too to give advice on his old bike.
I let Oxx take the Hawk out while I jump on the Duc for the first ride ever. It was having a little trouble starting (the gas was off) Tony says I can't run it without C12! I get back off the bike and Oxx comes in early from the session, I look up and smile and he says "Sorry Doc", I thought he had meant my not being able to ride the Duc or his SV but now he was apologizing because he got hit while riding my Hawk! I guess some guy rear ended him coming out of the bowl, thankfully he kept it up and was ok but the bike had a cracked footpeg mount, a bent footpeg and a stovepiped tail section... nothing some duct tape and safety can't fix... Not Oxx's fault and a lesser man wouldn't have "kept it up" Thanks Oxx.
I go out on the Hawk and it is all good, she is running fine. I come back in and decide to run the Duc on 93 after talking to some people with high comp bikes also running 93. Tony thinks I am gonna frag the motor but I go out on the Duc and just don't feel it, the big tank on there is throwing me off and the reach to the bars is too far, this sucks!

Come back in and change the tank and mess with the seat (try to raise it up with 3/4 foam) and here come Buddha walking into the pits after his crash! You all know that story so I won't rehash it hear. I change the tank and I go back out on the Duc a couple more times (the power is addicting). It feels better with the old style tank and seems to be running fine on 93. I am passing just about everyone in the B group and think of moving up but I think better of it, I need to work on my line with the Duc and experience passing people isn't gonna hurt either.
I stay in B the rest of the day and feel pretty good, I am still not at home on the Duc but it is getting better. I pack up my stuff AND Buddha's stuff and head out.

Good day. I wish the Hawk hadn't of gotten hit but at least no one was hurt.

I wish LAPS the best. They sure were trying hard to make it all go well.

Forgot to mention 2 things.

Ryan led me aroound for a bit and showed me some good lines through 12 and 6.

Also the Duc... the tire changing guy either lost a spacer for my rear wheel or failed to tell me I didn't have one... After telling me he used to work at BCM! Thankfully Chris notice it in the Pits saturday and I was able to go get the spacer to fix it before it chewed through the swingarm.

shit, this is your 9/26 report? Does this mean I'm going to crash into the back of your bike again on the 26th?

Glad I didn't disrupt your day too much. And, again I appologize for running into your bike. I think I noticed the word "doc" or "doctor" in red on the back of your bike as I was falling over. Hmmm, is that the guy on NESR, shit.
