    John,

Pleasure meeting you and Jason up there. Thanks for all of the help on Friday. I hope you got that backfiring thing all sorted out. See you in May.

  2. No sweat. I ended up with the FZ6 because the more upright position was much more comfortable for my wife riding on the back (she bought me the bike). Based on the majority of my riding I wish I had gotten an R6. I use the bike mainly for short (20 min) commuting and spirited weekend riding. I've only taken in on a few long journeys to New Jersey and Western NY.

The older versions have a low spot in the power band between 6000 and 7500 rpms. Above and below it they pull well, it just took me a while to get used to keeping it at high rpms through the twisties. I've done a handful of mods to the bike to try to flatten out the power curve and it has worked fairly well but after 3 track days I've invested in a track only bike because the suspension mods on the FZ6 just aren't worth the effort and money for me. I've had mine at 148 mph with 1000 rpms to go before redline so it will certainly get you past the tractor trailers quickly.

looking at a 2008 FZ-1, any input (good, bad, ugly)? I see that you have an FZ-6 ... 95% of my mileage is going to be done with highway commuting. How does the FZ-6 do with that? One person said that going to the 998cc engine would be the better way to go for highway miles, but I'd rather get someones opinion who has owned a FZ-6.

Hope you don't mind me attacking your messages here, but I got the pre-buying jitters bad, and I struggle with decisions BIG TIME haha.

    Thanks,
    Moose
